Two things converged to make my shopping experience at this location an absolute nightmarish hassle.
My family and I went to this location a week ago to pick out a bed and a couch. We chose a nice bed at a great price and a small love seat, arranged for delivery and set up a pay schedule that we were satisfied with. The day of delivery the driver had no sooner gotten out of the van before he was telling us he couldn't get the couch up our stairs. Before even looking at the stairs, before measuring the dimensions of the love seat, even before having gotten the van door open. Just a flat out NO.
Once the two delivery men got up the stairs and checked our apartment he told us some hear-say story about some other drivers who had a problem getting someone else's couch into another apartment. We asked him what to do since we had already signed the paperwork for what we ordered and he instructed us to go back to the store and pick something else out that was smaller. Even though the love seat was the smallest sofa on the show-room floor.
Instead of telling us that he could come back later with a few more guys and try to get the couch into our apartment he just gave us a stern no, they brought our bed up and left. At the store the assistant manager Jay (short for Jackie) was extremely rude and borderline hostile with us, even going so far as to accuse us of sending the couch back instead of acknowledging that his drivers were lazy and unimaginative enough to at least ATTEMPT to deliver all of our order. When we turned down his secondary offer to have more guys come back and deliver the love seat we politely declined, sighting the hassle we've already had to deal with with these two men and having to redo our agreement, he grew even more agitated. Slinging papers in our faces and short, terse replies to our questions. Very unprofessional.
We tried to call the district manager and even emailed him about how awful our customer service experience was to no avail. No call back and no email. It is incredibly unfair to still have to pay a delivery fee of $60 which we initially agreed to because of the love seat. Otherwise we could have just gotten the bed upstairs ourselves and saved that money.
It is extremely unfortunate that Cowboy Maloney's has chosen to hire such lazy and hostile employees at their Clinton location as I will not be returning for anything else with this company in the future with service like this.
My suggestion would be to go to another store for furniture. There's only two other stores in Clinton. Aaron's and Lewis furniture and even though they are slightly more expensive, I'd much rather deal with either of them because their employees are nicer and more helpful in my personal experience. And I'm pretty sure their assistant manager wouldn't treat you like a pariah when their employees are the...
Read moreMy mother, a 76 individual was seeking services at the Clinton location on 2/17/2025. The sales associate Reginald appeared to become irritated when the 76-year-old woman asked questions about the pricing difference that was presented to her on paper in comparison to what she was told verbally by this associate. Once I arrived to assist my mother with the contractual terminology, the sales associate appeared to disassociate himself from further intentional assistances. After asking the associate to explain to my mother the difference in the price that he stated in comparisons to the price listed on the sale slip. He stated, "I was just going to give her one in the box." I did ask if he would explain to her the difference in the pricing rather than assuming that she understood his intention. (He told her the price of a stove on the floor but did not confirm if she wanted the item in the box which would have increase the pricing). He also failed to explain or provide warranty information. I had to ask another associate (female) who seemed to not understand if the warranty time frame would include 3 or 5 years in addition to the standard one-year warranty. The associate did not try to get an understanding of what my mother understood. However, after he hastily tried to revise her contract he told her, "I will not be able to do this again because I have already submitted it once." This was such an unpleasant experience for my mother and most importantly, it was sad that this particularly sales associate was so impatient with an elderly individual due to his decision to act on her behalf without her fully understanding or consenting to the terms, such as not asking her if she needed said item to be delivered. The associated just added in the additional fee. Essentially, this is a form of elder abuse through deception. I will acknowledge that I placed a call to the Harding Street location to seek assistance from a district manager but was told that he was gone for the day, but five minutes later, the person who they said was gone for the day came in the front door of the Clinton location. This gentleman appeared very concern about my...
Read moreI was VERY impressed with my shopping experience. I purchased a no frills top-load washing machine from Cowboy Maloney's.in Clinton, MS. I shopped around at the normal big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes that I have always had great service at prior to the pandemic. Not so much anymore.
Both stores had comparable pricing for the appliance I needed, but both were going to charge me 25% more on top of the appliance price for delivery and haul away of the old appliance. Neither would would work with me on price even though I mentioned I am a veteran. I have to say that the appliance associate's customer service skills at Lowes Jackson, MS Greenway was less than stellar during my visit on 1/2/2025. I will not elaborate further because this is not the correct forum for that, but it suffices to say that I will think twice before visiting that store for appliances again in the future.
I decided to give Cowboy Maloney's a try because I see their advertisements locally. Their delivery fee was almost the same amount as the others, but the haul away was free. When I mentioned that I was a veteran, the salesman told me he could not discount the washer's price, but he was able to discount the price of delivery by $50. He also made sure it was delivered the following day. I purchased the washer on the spot. Very good customer service skills. Also, I want to give a compliment to delivery service staff. They did a great job also.
I recommend this store for...
