Stop & Shop — Local services in Cohasset

I have been going to this Stop and Shop my whole life. It is a great store, however I wouldnt rate it as 5 stars. I personally think Shaw's is better down the street.

I would like to provide some feedback about the self checkout machines. They wont let me ever checkout without calling an attendant over when weighing something. While this is pretty minor, it can be annoying. These self checkout kiosks are much more finicky than Shaw's and usually it will force an attendant to come over. Shaw's never does this. Also if you have a large item they force you to put it in the bagging area or it will also force the attendant to come over. This is annoying if you have large items that you dont want to take out of your cart. Also if you are purchasing multiple of the same items you can't scan the same item for however many items you want to buy, you have to scan them one at a time, which is not the case at Shaw's as far as I know.

Im glad they brought back free bags again. I am all for helping the environment, but I still have to be able to carry my groceries to the car.

I'm disappointed in this Stop & Shop. So much so, I'm never going back. I usually go to Hingham Stop & Shop but would go to Cohasset if driving by. The people at the deli are friendlier than in Hingham. I waited so long for help in self checkout (over 5 minutes while I watched employee after employee work around me) that my Scan It app timed out. The manager didn't know what happened with my app. Said he was unfamiliar with that method of shopping. Said he was sorry it took me 1/2 hour to check out, but didn't offer to call me and let me know what he found out about checking out using the Scan It app. He was actually very cavalier about my wasted time. Calling corporate is a nightmare. I'd like to use the Scan it app instead of the guns because of covid. I can't be the only one. A manager should know all of the ways a customer can pay for their shopping. I'll ask over at Hingham Stop &Shop. The customer service is exceptional. Stop & Shop in Cohasset has consistently been a disappointment to me every time I visit. I am 83 years old and limit grocery store outings to about every three weeks for obvious reasons. I usually buy what is on sale or featured in the weekly circular. Lately those items are not on the shelves or supply has been depleted. I have had to find an associate in the department and most of the time they tell me the item is on the truck and has not been unloaded yet. There are employees stocking shelves in every department so it is not a matter of no one available to restock items. I had to ask a man from the meat department to get me some of the pork chops that were on sale. He did help me but did not replenish the meat case with more packages. I really feel more attention should be given to advertised items as this is Sunday the sale goes all week.it is not a good idea to keep returning to the store at this time, due to Covid restrictions....
