
My review is pertaining to a specific stylist, Monisha, that I booked for a locs retwist and style through StyleSeat. Her name on Styleseat is Locs By Mizztalkabout. I had an appt. scheduled for 3 weeks in advance of my service date. My appt. was set and confirmed for 10:00am. On my way to my appt, I nail got in my tire and I had to stop to get it plugged. I texted the number that was on Styleseat, letting Monisha know that according to my GPS I would be 10 mins late. I didn't get a response. Then, at approx. 9:54am, I received a text from Monisha from a different number, stating "I'm On my way! I work pretty fast i will deduct 10$ 20$ for my tardiness". It was clear that the number on Styleseat wasn't accurate, so she never received my text. I proceeded to let her know that I was running a little behind and would be at the shop within the next 8 mins. She acknowledge my text and told me not to be in a rush. I pull up at the shop at 10:10am waited until 11:02, and she was no place fo be found. So, I reached out to her via text letting her know that I have been at the shop waiting. She responded, "Ok having a bit of car trouble and trying to get lyft but it's no cars available." I understand things happen and people run late. I was running 10 mins late myself. My issue is that she made it seem like she was in route to the shop only to disclose she was waiting on a Lyft. And how are no Lyfts available in metro ATL on a Saturday morning. So, I asked to speak to management, who disclosed that the stylist been had transportation issues and another client at 11:00am. I was annoyed because she cancelled my appt in Styleseat, kept me waiting over 40 mins, knew she didn't have a ride to her work, and didn't have the professionalism or customer service skills to call back or follow up. She just had me there waiting when she knew she couldn't make it. So, I texted her and let her knew that it was bad business and unprofessional. This young woman couldn't even take constructive criticism and try to deflect by saying I was late as well. There's a difference between being 10 mins late as client willing to pay whatever late fee or tip well versus being a no show...

I had a pleasant phone call with the young ladies who answered the phone and scheduled my consultation / appointment however when you are going through a huge change in style for healthy hair... you really should “consult”your client and not “tell” them what you aren’t going to do because you have something better. You have to get to know your client and understand them. I asked for a shave or a fade due to damaged hair and really needed advice. Instead I feel my stylist didn’t take the time to hear me out, get to “understand” my personality and give me the results I thought I would have had after showing her pictures. I was turned away from the mirror because I’m assuming she wanted to surprise me. I hated my cut, my head had scabs from the color ( that I didn’t really want and my hair is still coming out, which was one of my issues and concerns I mentioned during the brief conversation (not consultation I requested ). Now my stylist was professional however I was not happy with my look and I decided to change it myself by doing what I initially wanted, I had to re color it and go to a barber to accentuate my female feminine features to not look masculine. My advice is to get to know and listen to your clients prior to doing the treatment so that they are comfortable through the process and you both are clear on the outcome. Read moreI made an appt for 1245. The young lady called me at 9am and told me she wouldn't have time to do my hair and asked if i could come at 1:30. I was inconvenienced but i appreciate the customer service. I arrived and was surprised by what i saw. The photos online are WAY more polished than what the shop really is. It's not 100% raggedy or anything like that but it's rough around the edges. I would not recommend this shop for professionals or older people. I can deal with it but I don't care for vulgar music played in shops, especially when children or older people are inside at the time. I finally got in the chair at 3pm. The young lady who braided my hair did an ok job. I don't like that she braided it to where I didn't see my hair until she was finished because she definitely didn't braid it how I wanted. I paid her anyway and will just deal with it (it's not horrible-just not what I asked for). She was a nice young lady still trying to find her way through life. This shop also allows unlicensed people to work so make sure you vet properly. I probably won't be back just because it's not my kind of environment/location.
