Bad food and worse service.

First, I should mention that my family is from Mexico, so we know what good Mexican food is... and this isn't it. Our beans were either from a can or days old. When we first arrived, we waited for about 10 min before we had to ask for someone to come take our order... when they finally came, we wanted to give them our order along with our drink order. But, since they were out of pozole, my mom needed more time to think of what she wanted. So, she took our order and said she would be back... when the waitress returned my mom ordered the swiss enchiladas and a tamal. About 15 min later, we realize we haven't even received chips and salsa so we ask her for some as she is passing by and she says ok. Well, she made a ton of trips and didn't think to bring the chips. We received the chips along with our food, which by then, what is the point of them? But, not just that, they didn't bring the tamal my mom ordered and we had to wait another 15-20 minutes for my mom's food to arrive... which, a good server would not have put our order in until they put my mom's in, so the food could come out at the same time or at least brought out the tamal. Ohhhh... also, the menu said that our plates would come with homemade tortillas, which my mom was really excited about, but when we ordered, the waitress said that the menu was not correct. My mom had to pay for them, which if the menu says it, the menu should be honored... and again, a good waitress would have just given them to us per the menu. But, considering she could not even carry more than one thing in her hand at a time and the building had a sign basically insinuating that they will murder robbers, I don't know why I was expecting so much. All that said, the horchata...

No one will mistake it for le Tour d’Argent, but what a great lunch place for a visit to the Chakoia Mounds! Freshly prepared Mexican (as opposed to Tex-Mex) food. I really Enjoyed my enchiladas verdes. My buddy apparently enjoyed his enchiladas Suizza even more… made a very happy plate. His wife enjoyed the enchiladas Mexicanas (red, white & green), whereas my sweetie raved about her shrimp taco salad.

Opted against alcohol for lunch, but the have a great looking bar with a wide selection of tequilas. Seems that their weekend specials are VERY WELL appreciated by the local community.

First time in, made to feel like family! Awesome experience, and the carneceria was legit. Arrachera was a must have. Went for carne,left with some of the best seasoned and quality of meat I have seen anywhere. If you are within a 30 minute drive....go here. It's a win. I've been in the area ( 25 minute drive) for a week. Now I know where I will go when I want quality. See you soon...
