TERRIBLE!!! MULTIPLE HEALTH VIOLATIONS!!! APARTMENTS WERE NOT CLEANED AT ALL BEFORE I MOVED IN!!! AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! 25-50 empty bottles under the sink, mold and mildew in shower, rust in the tub, cabinets are FILTHY!! They are too comfortable moving people in on the inhabitable and health endangering environments.
I suggest that this apartment complex find a professional company to manage maintenance requests. It isn’t logical to have one person in charge of maintenance and gardening AND he is included in the two people in who execute the maintenance for all six buildings. This is what I was told from a representative in the leasing office.
They attract VSU student with their convenience, snacks and events until they get us to sign a lease. By the time we are excited and ready to move in these are the conditions we are placed in.
As you can see below the manager wanted to speak to me after this review, this is how it went:
I showed her the picture of the mold and certified that it was mold by having a mold remediation specialist on the phone. Also, I explaining to . her the other issues with the apartment ( bottles, etc).
The property manager simply replied, in summary. " That isn't mold it is mildew. Get some bleach and clean it yourself"
Which was still repeated after the specialist confirms that it was mold and mildew turns into mold eventually.
It took TWO visits for them to PARTIALLY fix the mold between the shower and the tile.
At first, the maintenance man simply tried to put new caulk over the molded old caulk. Instead of removing the old moldy caulk and replacing it with fresh caulk. I know this because I talked to the mold specialist and I watched the maintenance man appointed from this property do it incorrectly.
Once I complained again, an different maintenance man came in and partially removed the old caulk with new caulk. In which, I could tell because within weeks the mold began to seep through.
It wasn't until spring break, which is approximately, 8 months ( March 1st) that they hired someone to do the entire tub.

In REALITY, Ettrick is extremely dirty! MOLD EVERYWHERE especially in the bathroom. No matter how much I scrub this bathroom yall... it doesn't work. Mold in the bathroom, mold in the LIGHT of the bathroom look at the pictures! This Is AFTER they called themselves "cleaning." When I MOVED IN this place was filthy but I have emailed them. I asked them if they could they would either WAX the floors or REPLACE them because mopping does not work, I have tried! I told them that. The first time I asked, they told me they usually wax the floors in the summertime, cool! So the last time I asked them about the floors they told me they couldn't wax the floors and that they do not clean occupied apartments 🤔....but y'all just said...okay whatever. Why literally weeks later some cleaning people come knocking on my door (without notifying me) saying they're there to clean the rooms and the mop the floors....but I clearly said mopping doesn't work. So they basically came to push dirt around...okay. Don't get me started on the maintenance guys, they come in literally WHENEVER. If you like to walk around comfortably in your home, don't be surprised when you hear that knock on the door followed by "MAINTENANCE!" like okaaaay no email? No text? No type of notification? Yeah thats Ettrick...unprofessional. I asked them before to let me know when people are coming in my apartment and they let me know ONCE after that then continued to do what they want. Bet. I have the proof below. I know people that had to completely move out of their apartments because of mold and uncleanliness. Recently my friend and her suite mate found mold on their shoes and clothes just from leaving their stuff in their rooms for the summer (summer storage). Read moreIt’s exciting to have your first place and move into adulthood but, the only major negative thing I have about Ettrick apartments is that some of the workers are unprofessional. I believe that some professional development is needed and reorganization of their system when it comes to employees. I believe that they need to work on communication (being they are there to help residents). I would advise improvement on their email system notifying residents that people are coming into their apartment a day ahead of time. I had this happen several times, with someone bargaining into my apartment (even with adding a home alarm system and having the safety stand on my door). As a female without notification from her apartment complex that someone was coming 8am what would instantly come to your mind that’s happening? I called the office to confirm and they expressed that no one was in the office to confirm if someone was coming to do work, they asked me to give them my name and apartment number and they would call me back. How is that they do not know who they sent to my apartment and gave a key to (outside cleaning services); no documentation once so ever and without masks on. Not once did I receive a call back confirming their presence in my home. As an employee or worker if you knock on a door you A) wait for someone to open the door B) you call or email notifying your resident C) You leave and come back later at a more convenient time. None of these options happened for me. It was very alarming and shocking, imagine if it was your daughter or even you who experienced such a fright straight from their sleep(I thought it was an intrusion on my home by a non employee). Without notification from the office that says they want nothing but my safety but, does not notify me of simple things as someone is coming.
