I have travelled and tried all sorts of different foods from all around the globe. I have to say, this restaurant has easily placed among the greatest restaurants that I have had the pleasure of eating at. From Turkish cooked meats to traditional Korean home foods to even gourmet African rice dishes, hardly anything could equate to what my friend and I had the pleasure of gracing our tastebuds here.

We showed up only slightly hungry, but left having eaten enough for a small family, and all at an affordable price.

In the Pixar film Ratatouille, there is a moment where the protagonist, Remy, describes a combination of flavors as a “symphony”, and today I was able to understand exactly what that meant.

We started out with some complimentary tortilla chips, which were paired with a white sauce and salsa. Everything in this restaurant is made in-house, nothing store bought! The chips were fresh and crisp, the salsa was incredible, but the white sauce easily stole the show with an incredible display of flavor and richness, fresh and slightly sweet but also tart.

I ordered some of the Tacos that were recommended by the house, and my friend the quesadilla. The tacos were savory and had a rich flavor, being excellently seasoned and being accompanied by a wondrous dipping sauce with deep flavors. The juices were overflowing from the house-made-taco tortillas (which were slightly crispy at the ends as well).

The quesa birria my friend received were wondrous as well, a combination of everything I previously described but also cheesy-the cheese accompanied the super-tender meat wondrously.

I have no possible suggestions for improvement for La Loteria, this restaurant, and I doubt Gordon Ramsay himself would have any words to say after dining here.

The service was wonderful, with a homely and friendly atmosphere, with great patience for us and great suggestions as well.

Even if you aren’t from Virginia, I suggest you consider making the drive over to visit La Loteria and saying hello to the friendly faces here and enjoying quite possibly the best meal of your lifetime in the meanwhile. All the flavors of the foods here complement on another, and the food is more than just a meal, but an...

CUSTOMER SERVICE- I have never experienced such incredible service as I did last night from this restaurant!! I had placed a DoorDash order, and the Dasher said they had picked up our food, but actually had not. The restaurant was getting ready to close, so I called Door Dash who said they could cancel the order, but I didn't want to do that (we were REALLY looking forward to our food from here & I didn't want La Loteria to get penalized for something they didn't have control of & not get paid). The owner called me personally & he DELIVERED OUR FOOD HIMSELF!! I was blown away!! He was so kind to do that, and we are so thankful for him. We've ordered from here countless times now, and every single time the food has been amazing. Seriously, every single time, every thing, not just okay, but delicious & flavorful & awesome! They had already earned our loyalty for the incredible food, but after last night & the owner's response to a not so good situation, we will tell everyone about this wonderful restaurant, & the fantastic people here. Thanks so much again, and if I could give 10000 stars I would, because it is much...

I am a big proponent of food reviews so naturally when I saw the 4.9 stars for Loteria I knew I had to give it a shot. I realized it was the same place I drove past to get to work every day. It is unassuming from the outside, but do not be swayed. This is the BEST Mexican restaurant in the area hands down. It is a family business; if I remember correctly the owner is Indian and his wife is Mexican. Their dishes are not your average Mexican food. Everything is delicious... i have been back four or five times and every time raised the bar to new heights! I highly recommend the birria tacos, chicken quesadillas, and the chips and house made guacamole. The owners also have a few Indian/mexican fusion items like the butter chicken enchiladas. AMAZING! All in all, it was worth every dollar. Especially considering they give you a generous portion of rice, and beans and chips and salsa with most meals. (The white sauce is SO good) (and even these sides taste good unlike the uninspiring sides that many other "Mexican" restaurants offer) I haven't eaten in, only take out. But the food alone makes this place worth you...

Great experience! Seated right away--no wait. Atmosphere is nice and bright. It's a converted Burger King, so it's a bit unconventional, but it works. The food is really the star of the show. My friend had the birria tacos and loved them! I actually had the butter chicken, which is not currently on the menu but is being tested out. It's a great Indian-Mexican fusion that works really well! I've been in several times and have tried various tacos, enchiladas, and plates. The tandoori chicken tacos are wonderful, as are the al pastor and carne asada. I've never been disappointed here! If there's one thing I'd change, it's to switch from Coke to Pepsi products, but that's 100% my personal preference and not a dig at the restaurant. Parking is sufficient, and there are handicapped spots up front. Parking lot surface needs some work, but it's easily passable by cars, pedestrians, and wheelchairs.
