As a new low in customer service, the store now closes it's "solution center" at 8 PM (see photo) and now blocks the door going to the back parking lot. When I asked the store manager why, he informed me it was "because of the way the world is today" and proceeded to tell me about crime in Columbia, the recent murder a few weeks ago, shoplifting, and how he is trying to sell his house to get out. If all this is true, I sure hope someone tells the residents of the new luxury community they're building right next door! Funny, having lived here 30 years I've always thought we were in a great neighborhood! Guess GIANT doesn't feel that way! Over the years I've watched the company degrade customer service by replacing cashiers with "self check" registers, removing the helpful people stationed out front to help you load the car, and now, closing exits and service counters. It's no wonder shoplifting has gone up at their locations - they're too cheap to adequately staff the front end of the store, making robbery all the more easier. Both GIANT and SAFEWAY have gone to these policies causing our village centers to attract criminals because they are now such easy targets. What's worse - they're now using increased crime as a further excuse for even poorer customer service - and BLAMING THE NEIGHBORHOOD for it! Shame on them. It's time for the CA and KIMKO to give us grocery stores that aren't afraid of the community they're making money off of. My recommendation? Shop any nearby FOOD LION location. All entrances are open and they have plenty of full service registers to help the customer. They seem proud to serve the community they're in - not frightened of it like GIANT is. It's time to demand better by taking your food dollars elsewhere!

Horrible vibes at this location! A lot of the employees seem miserable. The self check out lady is very rude. When my 20 year-old daughter was at self check out she asked the employee a question and she responded so rudely. I overheard her because I was waiting on the side. She raised her voice at my child and walked away from her without answering her question. She didnโ€™t see me coming. I told her she was very rude and didnโ€™t have to talk to her like that and proceeded to tell her manager about the whole interaction. He dismissed it as if itโ€™s OK. I will definitely be calling customer service line to send a complaint.

Also every time I go into this giant location now that same manager follows me around the store. Every time I turn around he is there. I feel like he is trying to make me uncomfortable. When I turned in my coins into the Coin-star machine the customer service was closed so I couldnโ€™t cash it in. Which is fine so I returned the next day. The same manager was at customer service and I gave him the ticket. He took the ticket from me and didnโ€™t say a word. He went straight into his office for a couple minutes then took the ticket to the Coin-star machine, and I just stood there and waited. I didnโ€™t know what was going on. He then comes to customer service to his register and start processing it. I asked him is everything OK and he said yes but we have to cash these the same day. I had no idea that was the case but will be checking on the facts of that. The customer service closed at 8 oโ€™clock and it was a little after 8 so I had to wait until the next day. He said he had to ask his supervisor about it. He didnโ€™t even tell me anything he just walked away. Horrible customer service once again will be sending in a complaint to the customer...

My boyfriend and I had bought a full cart worth of groceries. We went to the self check out because we simply donโ€™t enjoy interacting with people lol I wish I had gotten the womanโ€™s name that works there but she demanded we go into the line next to the self check out. We said okay then she proceeded to talk to us the whole time during check out at her register, telling us how the bottom part of the conveyor belt can see what we have on the bottom. This woman really thought we were going to steal stuff at the self check out and thatโ€™s why she told us to go into her line!! I am sure it was discrimination towards us being young. We are both in our mid 20โ€™s. I bet she was surprised when we paid in full, no food stamps or anything. I have never felt so looked down upon because of my boyfriend and Iโ€™s age that this woman really didnโ€™t think we were honest, young people! Our total went to $550.00. Not all young people are thieves and quite frankly my boyfriend and I were raised by amazing parents to set down great foundations as children and know regardless from who or where it isnโ€™t right to lie, cheat or steal. Plus this Giant is awful, always out of stock of everything, customer service is awful, prices are absurd and they think youโ€™re stealing if youโ€™re a young adult and have a cart full of food. Donโ€™t go here, I still canโ€™t believe that woman thought we were going to do that...
