Bought a lawyers style bookcase yesterday. Everything appeared fine with the piece of furniture when I looked it over. I could not move the piece of furniture because 1 It was full of items the vendor was displaying that I did not want to be responsible for if something had happened to one of the items, and 2 because if something was wrong with the bookcase I did not want to be responsible for causing damage to it (you break it you buy it). So I paid for the item thinking that it's a piece of furniture what could seriously be wrong with a piece made of solid wood. So I told the lady at the counter I would be in tomorrow to pick up the furniture when my son would be available to help me. Fast forward to today I go in the store instruct the employee to remove the items from the bookcase so that I will not be held liable. He removed the items and we proceeded to scoot the bookcase out when we discovered that It was neither sound nor stable and probably would not survive the trip home. Their employee witnessed all of this. I told him I was not interested in buying a $100.00 worth of firewood. He instructed me to talk to the manager. I spoke to "Tim" when I had reached the counter and he told me "all sales were final no refunds no returns and that I should have tested the bookcase out first" How was I supposed to do that? Handle all of the expensive antiques sitting on the actual antique that I was interested in and then move it around? If it would of broke in the process would I have been responsible for covering the asking price of the object(s)? Guess what Tim the sale is NOT final until after the purchaser has take possession of the item. The item is still in the store. This place is borderline criminal the people are beyond rude and is in no way a customer friendly environment. I will be making a report to the BBB and have already called my credit card company to stop payment. Shop at your own risk buyer beware. There are plenty of choices when it comes to shopping for antiques don't get robbed at this joke...
Read moreMy first visit to South County Antique Mall exceeded all expectations. This place is a genuine treasure trove for collectors of all kinds, but particularly impressive for toy enthusiasts.
The selection here is outstanding, featuring both vintage and newer collectibles. As a Hot Wheels collector, I was thrilled to find exactly what I'd been searching for – items that would have cost significantly more on eBay. The pricing is fair and reflects genuine collector-to-collector understanding rather than inflated online marketplace rates.
What sets this place apart is the opportunity to support local dealers and collectors directly. These aren't faceless online sellers but passionate enthusiasts who understand the significance of each piece. When you buy here, your money stays in the community and supports fellow collectors who've carefully curated their offerings.
The mall offers a loyalty card providing $5 off purchases of $25 or more. While modest, this program demonstrates their commitment to building lasting customer relationships and provides real value for frequent visitors.
The mall is well-organized and maintained, making browsing enjoyable. The atmosphere perfectly balances serious antiquing with casual treasure hunting, welcoming both seasoned collectors and curious newcomers.
South County Antique Mall offers everything you want in an antique shopping experience: excellent selection, fair pricing, and authentic community connection. For toy collectors specifically, this is a must-visit destination that beats online alternatives in both value and experience.
I'll definitely be returning regularly to see what new treasures arrive. Whether you're a dedicated collector or casual browser, this mall provides the authentic antiquing experience that's becoming increasingly rare today.
Highly recommended for collectors and antique...
Read moreA huge selection of items, which is exciting. If you go, take your time and have a good look. However, I only gave 3 stars because I found that a lot of booths are over priced and more than a handful of items at different booths were incorrectly marked as being something they weren't. EX: claimed Murano, but had a fake Chinese Murano sticker.
I went here to meet with a vendor selling uranium wine glasses over FB marketplace that she had in her booth. Wasn't until I got home, 1 hour drive there and another hour back, that I discovered they were not in fact uranium just green. I should've known better when she tried to sell me some green Pyrex dishes as uranium, and I knew for a fact they were not. The 2 hour roundtrip to get a refund for the deceitful (possibly lacking knowledge) sale wasn't worth the gas, but I did learn a valuable lesson. Plus I may be wrong, but I don't believe they allow refunds. The staff employees are very helpful and it's not their fault what happened to me.
Just make sure you do your own research before buying items. I cannot/will not say mislabeled items are done purposely to deceive people. A large number of vendors are competing against each other for sales to move inventory making it easier for a vendor to convince themselves they have vintage Empoli, Murano, Bohemian glass when it really came from Marshall's last season.
I will be going back, when I have a day to spend looking at everything, but will complete my due diligence before I make...
