When my custom built computer started breaking, the potential problems were endless, and I knew I needed a professional. I then naturally skeptical about going to someone in their home instead of a shop, where I knew insurance could be more assured, given the fact that my computer is uniquely built. But It was late, and Jake was one of the only places open. After a brief call, he asked me to come over within the hour, and I made my way over.
His workroom obviously has lots of use, with various electronic things scattered about everywhere, but he pulled my computer over to a table and seemed right at home immediately and precisely dismantling the appropriate parts.
He started up very casual conversation about his observations and things he considered, and off-handed questions I asked were answered quickly and succinctly. I'm moderately knowledgeable about computers, but his comfort with them was quickly made to be clearly superior. This was a big comfort.
I mentioned my concerns about insurance, and he simply said, "Ah yeah man, anything I break I replace, that's my policy."
And I believed him.
Jake's a genuine guy, he's very capable, and very reliable. Your loyalty here would be well deserved. He identified and fixed my difficult problem surprisingly quickly, despite the myriad of potential problems it could be, and he was thorough in his analysis.
Bottom line, if you have computer problems, he's the man to go to in Conway at least. Seriously, go check him out.
(P.S. I think I even called him Josh by accident, and he was gracious to accept it without causing myself guilt. Thanks Jake, and...
Read moreActually this review started about 6 years ago when lightening struck close to the house with me sitting at my desk listening to the desktop snap, crackle, and pop. Searching for a "computer repair near me" I found Jake's. The only one with nothing but 5-star reviews. And a LOT of them. I thought "either this guy has a lot of friends writing reviews for him, or he walks on water". Turns out he walks on water! Jake was able to extract all the data and pictures from my toasted system and put them on a nice used desktop he built for me. All for a VERY reasonable price. Recently I bought a refurbished much newer and faster desktop. Remembering how Jake had set up the system he built for me exactly like my toasted one, I took both the new and used desktops to him so he could do the same as before. Which he did, perfectly. He also helped me decide which monitor and wifi keyboard/mouse combo to go with. And installed a larger SS hard drive. I've just now got the system up and running, and it's everything I was hoping for. (Actually better!) So I figured this review should be the first job I do with it. You'll never go wrong dealing with Jake's Computer Repair! And you'll probably learn something at the same time, as he is the type of person who likes to explain what he is...
Read moreI've had Jake work on two of my computers now that needed a more knowledgeable person handling them. One computer needed an obscure GPU riser card that I feel like I would have never even heard of without Jake's input. We were able to get the entire computer put back together quicker than expected, and it's been in use since then with zero issues. The second computer was more or less a hand-me-down gaming PC that nobody could get to work. Jake called me back the same day I dropped off the computer, solved the issues that were causing the computer to malfunction, listed off the parts in the machine, and helped with the disaster area that was the prior cable management. He did both jobs while being fairly busy with other customers at the time and still remained fun to work with and professional. Ended up saving me a lot of money...
