Pros: *Good at returning phone calls/emails *Excellent availability *Introduced us to great inspector and financing *Refunded our Earnest money within 3 business days without issue after we declined to attempt to negotiate necessary repairs any further, house failed inspection. *Knows Cookeville market and would possibly be better representing a seller (we were buyers looking to relocate in general region, wanting something nicer that was on larger lot, qualified for fha, and didn't have close neighbors) Cons: *Contacted our bank for a closing date change before checking to see if we accepted seller's repair proposal-the sellers had a renter in home not scheduled to leave until after closing and did not want to give us time to inspect repairs which were many not just a couple. Not sure how that was acceptable on either front. (always read anything you sign, even things someone says they agreed to, only small details were changed that could have been very expensive for us to deal with after sale) *Seemed unable to figure out that someone working night shift wants calls in afternoon. She attempted multiple times to ask for no a.m. calls, texts, but no one in office was interested in my wife's schedule or sleeping requirements. *Got confused on our details as a buyer for example:our previous location, what we wanted in a home, what we are willing to negotiate on, etc *Office location from I40 Crossville is a bear to get to, 111 is exceptionally busy road with poor visability. Overall I would hazard a guess they are average for area. Buyer's agent might need help as he seemed busy and the guy who was "helping" him didn't have relevant details, at one point I was unsure if he was a scammer contacting us. Anyone working with any realtor needs to be very careful about details when negotiating a sale, buyer beware. There is often much more Buyer remorse vs....
Read moreIt is obvious that Skender-Newton Realty only hires the best of the best agents. My husband and I personally had such an amazing experience working with Jenny Holmes of Skender-Newton Realty. Easily the best interaction my husband or I have ever had with a real estate professional of any kind in any state or town. This is saying a lot - in our 20+ year marriage we've moved 9 times!
There were so many things about Jenny that made our home selling journey with her special. She was able to listen to us and provide feedback and guidance that was exactly right for us, the Cookeville real estate market, and the home we had loved and were leaving. I was so impressed with how professional she was. She even managed to strike a perfect balance of fiercely protecting our best interests while keeping the buyer in mind and treating them with the utmost respect and concern although they weren't even her clients. She is a good, decent and kind human being through and through.
Regarding our specific transaction, Jenny carefully inspected our home and pointed out some excellent suggestions for ways to increase the house's attractiveness and impact the value in a positive way before we listed it. We took every one of her suggestions and were able to maximize our home's appeal to potential buyers and also be comfortable that we would have the best possible return on our investment. As it turned out, Jenny got a possible lead on an interested buyer right before the listing actually went live - we had a full price offer under contract BEFORE we ever went on the market! I couldn't believe it - I had never seen something like that happen before. Incredible!!!
We moved away from the Cookeville area after selling, but I would never work with anyone other than Jenny if I had that chance :) I heartily recommend her to anyone looking to...
Read moreAfter a somewhat challenging Google search for a realtor in our new town of Cookeville, I remembered that Dave Ramsey has an affiliate network of trusted realtors. I reached out and immediately was contacted by three different Ramsey-approved realtors, including Tyler Wilson from the Skender Newton Group.
With our schedules only allowing for a one weekend buying trip, there was no time to waste in making sure we had someone who fully understood our needs and preferences. While all of the realtors were accommodating, friendly, and competent, I ultimately decided to go with Tyler because he was the only one who asked me specific questions and really sought to understand what it was WE were looking for, rather than trying to sell me on his credentials.
Tyler was just enough of everything for us -- whether it be the type of contact, the flow of communication/info, or the pleasantries, he expertly mirrored what we prefer -- again, not making it about himself but truly about us. This made the buying experience enjoyable, stress-free, and even fun!
Tyler lined up all eight houses we wanted to see for a full day of viewings and even timed them all to the best route! A real local, he knew the areas very well. He would drive us through nearby neighborhoods rather than the main route so we could get a feel for the vibe and he even added a house to our list that we hadn't asked for because he knew we would want to see the area. In the end, this was actually the house we bought! If not for him, we wouldn't have even thought to look at it.
We couldn't have been happier with our buying experience with Tyler -- he was the utmost in professional and courteous while consistently putting our needs first. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy or sell a home in the...
