Bryan has not reached out!
Here's where their Service Dept failed beyond comprehension. I had them install a new suspension which was front fork cartridges & rear shocks. Joe Smith did the work and when I asked on the initial installation if I needed to set on the bike to set the SAG, he stated no need which I thought was odd but hey, he is the Master Technician. I rode it home but noticed a vibration/pogoing in the handlebars/front end which wasn't there before. I still continued the ride home and thought maybe the new suspension needed some miles to get settled in. After some time I was out on the bike on a ride with one of the groups I ride with and we were heading down the road at 70 - 85 mph and the vibration/pogoing effect was still there. I reached out to Jeff the Service Manager to discuss this issue that came on after the suspension was installed and he directed me to Legend Suspensions to get their feedback/solution into which I did. We began an email chain that had myself, Legend Suspensions and Jeff at American Eagle HD on. They questioned as to whether the front fork cartridges were installed correctly into which Jeff stated that they were. They then questioned the wheel balance and potentially the neck bearings into which Jeff stated that was all good. Legend finally agreed to send out a new set of front fork cartridges at no charge to make sure that there wasn't an issue with their product. Once they arrived I made a trip to American Eagle to get them changed out. Jeff had Jeremiah a regular technician do this work and both Jeff and Joe oversaw his work to make sure all was completed correctly. They (Jeff & techs) then rode the bike and it was still doing the same thing when they got me from the customer waiting area to tell me that it still had to be the suspension and how it was acting with the bike. I asked about the tire balance again and Jeff stated he watched Jeremiah do the balance and that it was fine or balanced out to zero. I had no choice other than to ride it home and Jeff told me to reach back out to Legends and tell them what was going on and see if they would refund my money. The email chains started again and Jeff & Jeremiah even talked with Legend again and they got back with me asking to check the SAG and some other things to see if that was off. I then made another trip up to AEH and Jeff had Joe set the SAG this time while I was on the bike. Either Jeff & Joe rode the bike again or maybe just Jeff but it was still getting the vibration/pogoing effect up front. I asked again, are the tires balanced out & Jeff said yes. I asked Jeff what were my options & he said to put on a different suspension front & rear and took me over to their parts counter to discuss different suspension options. I can't remember the guys name but he was to get back with me and never did. Legend at this point said, it's not the suspension and it's the bike and they can't refund or doing anything else. I needed to get this fixed as I hated riding the bike and since American Eagle's Parts Dept. never got back with me I reached out to several people to see what local options there were and was referred to a Harley-Davidson Suspension expert. I then set up an appointment to get a complete new suspension put on at another $3k because American Eagle stated that was what need fixed since there were no tire balance issues, neck bearing issues etc.
I got the new suspension installed and the vibration/pogoing effect was still there at 70-85 mph. I returned after about 15-20 minutes and let the tech know what was going on. He asked me, did American Eagle check the front tire balance and I said yes and they assured me that there were no issues and it balance out fine. He looked at the front tire & noticed that the weights were all right at the valve stem which he found odd. Well guess what, the tire was way out of balance and he then balanced it correctly. I rode the 75 miles back home and the bike was totally smooth.
Jeff & his teams improper diagnosis cost me $3k.
Beware of their lack of standing...

This was my 2nd purchase of a used bike through American eagle. Never did I think they would sell a bike to a customer that was messed up or not warranty to fix it if something was wrong. (Bought an aftermarket warranty through Protective Assets)
Well I was in the wrong for not basically turning the bike upside down and running through it thoroughly to see if it was leaking oil.
I'm over two hours away from the dealership so I'm roughly 120 miles away. I had this bike for 14 days... In 14 days I ONLY put 400 miles on this bike. I started noticing oil coming from TOP & BOTTOM of both cylinders. After putting it on a lift at home I realized there was a leak on the bottom of the bike that had to of been there for a very long time.
It was covered in oil! I'm talking about 1/4" thick residue on the bottom of the bike.
I immediately called my salesman who talked so highly of this "used" bike with a new motor. NO ANSWER. I then reached out to the service department at the dealership. All seemed great over the phone that is. Upon arriving I was informed that " well you know when we sold you this bike everythings listed as a 103 through the warranty company & the lien holder so the warranty company might not cover it". THEY KNEW WHAT THEY DID FROM THE JUMP!
It didn't click at that point in time. I told Barb hopefully the warranty covers it because I've only had the bike for 14 days.. She said we'll the warranty company wants to see a big time lapse upon you receiving the warranty or a lot of miles put on the bike.... I was like that doesn't even make sense! I just got the damn thing! 14 days goes by and I check in about 5 different times. I got ignored and then being a smart ass saying I'm not going back and forth with you I'm telling you what it is. Each time I checked in I got a run around of an excuse as to why they haven't started or been able to find parts for the bike or schedule a inspector to look at it. Barb in service was unhappy that I was calling checking up questioning the fact that I got sold a bike that was leaking oil and what are they gonna do about it. 13 days in reach out to another Harley-Davidson dealership in fort Worth and spoke with their service department. I never mentioned any names or any dealership. I simply stated the problems that I was facing and what would be a good solution if it was that dealership going through this. The service guy quickly let me know that he was Barb's husband and she knows what she's talking about and I just need to listen to her and let her do her job. From that point I was like how did he know who I was!? I know I'm getting no where with this guy. On the the 15th day my salesman (WIQED) reached out and said " hey man I seen an inspector (JOE) here looking at your bike" I said good news anything good you can tell me?
At this point they had made it out to seem like because they sold a bike that was listed as a 103 under the warranty that the warranty company would not cover it because it was an aftermarket 135 motor that I what's going to have to come out of pocket to fix everything even though we purchased a "aftermarket warranty" through the dealership.. Wiqed said man there's nothing I can tell you I was just telling you he was here call your service manager.
So I reached out to Barb again nothing.!
I reached out to wiqed the next day and asked if he had heard anything because I couldn't get a hold of Barb. No response until 9 pm at night saying he was sick. The next day I just had the feeling that they screwed me and I needed to do some research myself. So I went and called an out-of-town Harley-Davidson dealership. I explained to them the problems I was facing and what would be a good solution. They quickly informed me that this motor on this bike was installed on 7-9-2016.. Not new! After talking to warranty they had already came to the conclusion 3 days ago. It wasn't covered under warranty and I needed to get my $ back. It won't let me write everything so I'm summing up. The dealership washed their...
Read moreI used their service department on (2) recommendations but I can tell you that maybe other than a simple oil change it is probably beyond their capability. I used them the first time to get a stereo upgrade on my bike and they did a decent job other than not tightening my saddlebags which I'm glad I noticed as the bags would of definitely flown off going down the highway.
Here's where it really goes south when they installed fork cartridges and shocks on the bike. I requested Joe Smith one of their Master Technicians to do the work as he is supposedly the best mechanic they have and he did my stereo. I asked if I needed to sit on the bike to set the Sag when he was finished and he said "no". I thought that was unusual, but hey he is the Master Mechanic. I rode out and the bike felt OK but not what I was expecting for the money spent but I gave it some time to settle in. I noticed that between 70 - 85 MPH the front had a vibration/pogoing effect which wasn't there before. I emailed the suspension manufacturer and looped in Jeff Miodowski the Service Manager about the issue. The suspension manufacturer asked Jeff if they completed the install correctly as they went over that then asked some other questions to make sure the install was correct and that the settings were correct. We also discussed if the neck bearings were good and that the front wheel balance was checked and Jeff confirmed that all was checked and there were no issues. After another trip and numerous emails they decided to send out another set of fork cartridges and I went back and they had a regular technician do this installation and I believe that Joe & Jeff checked the work and all was installed correctly. They (Jeff & Techs(s)) rode the bike and the vibration/pogoing effect was still there. I asked Jeff again about the balance & he said he watched the Tech balance it. I rode home and the emails commenced back & forth with the manufacturer & Jeff but the manufacturer stated that there were no issues with the cartridges and it was either the install or something in the bike. I then asked Jeff again about the front wheel balance and he assured me that he personally watched the balance and the balance was spot on or at zero.
This lead me to believe it was the suspension as Jeff even had me talk to their parts dept. about other suspensions but they never called me back, so I moved on to search out another source. I talked to a few guys and they recommended a Harley Suspension guy in the area and we talked and I set up to get the suspension changed out to solve this issue. Unfortunately I was going to be out another $3k but it needed fixed and American Eagle HD Team lead me to believe that the new suspension was the problem.
I got the new suspension on and the guy had me go for a ride after he had me get on the bike and set the sag. I rode it and it was solid except for that vibration/pogoing was still there. I pulled back in and told him and we went over what American Eagle did & he said, "I bet it's the front tire out of balance". So, he took the front wheel off and noticed the weights were all down by the valve stem which he found odd so he went to work and rebalanced the tire...problem solved.
I tell people of this as I'm out $3k due to American Eagle HD's error on a simple front tire balance. If you can't balance a front wheel then how are you going to handle motor work etc.? Jeff stated that they balance a lot of wheels and mine is the only one that had an issue. In our last conversation he even stated that one of the techs messed the tire balancer up and it needed to get fixed. I think either it really wasn't checked or the last tech didn't know how to work the tire balancer as I can't believe the machine is...
