In response to "The Smiths" review for 2015, I'm not sure where this person went, but it was definitely NOT this YMCA location. My daughter, son, and I all have memberships. They are teenagers. My daughter and I enter through the WOMEN'S locker room, change out in PRIVATE stalls with curtains and chairs provided, and have lockers that we can lock to place our things into. There are working toilets with toilet paper, showers, and sinks with mirrors in these women's locker rooms. You exit through the women's locker room and enter the pool area. When done with the pool area, you exit back through the women's locker room. Boys ages over 4 years of age are asked to use the MEN'S locker room. This locker room is where my son goes, and much like the women's, the same items are available, and he can exit and enter the pool area through the MEN'S area. I have never seen a "public" locker room even once.
My only complaint is that I entirely do not understand why the pool closes down when it rains. We're INDOORS. Lightning strikes for outdoor swimming, I can understand. But....we're not outside. So, to me, it feels like this is just an out to cancel classes and collect dues anyway. Very unfair for members who pay to swim or attend water classes. Also, why isn't the Facebook page used to announce closers, like free swim, or weather related closings? No excuse there. Facebook is free and costs the facility absolutely nothing to log online and post up...
Read moreI feel when an organization forget the core reason why it exists it becomes poor if horrid. I recently enrolled my daughter in soccer with this oraganization and had a simple request that my child participate with the individual requested, at times that would actually allow my child to paticipate with the team. i paid money for this activity, this was not a charity bestowed up on us. I was told and i quote, "that my request was not a priority. I don't know about anyone else but when I pay for a service i actually expect service. I didn't ask for immediacy just that it be done when and it was possible. I feel the YMCA should hire a new sports director, one who knows how to make the members a priority. It would get high ratings and more membership. Take it from one previous employee to a current your performance wouldn't cut it at Northhaven YMCA in dallas where service matters. You might need a...
Read moreEveryone, all ages and genders... Must enter and exit the pool through the public locker rooms only. So here I am with my two children trying to work our way through a crowded locker room. There are naked people, that are going from showers to toilets etc. I find this highly unacceptable, and yet the pool director says they are not going to do anything about it. Note* there are two other door that lead directly into the pool without having to go through the locker rooms. Yet those are no longer being used for anything other than Emergency Exits. I won't be returning to this YMCA, It's no better than the Whispers Cabaret that advertises fabric free dining. Certainly not a Family Friendly...
