Highland Centre — Local services in Covington

Plenty of parking. They have added parking right beside the sidewalk. That makes it convenient if you are going to the DMV or one of the shops. The employees at the DMV are all very nice and helpful. Except for the supervisor named Lisa. She is very short with people and continuesly talks over you when you are trying to explain something or ask a question. She refuses to acknowledge she was wrong about something that she told you. Even after you contact Richmond and they reverse what she said and did she still refuses to acknowledge it or apologize for all the wasted time she cost you. If Lisa is working then you are better off driving to the Roanoke office if you can not...

This is a pretty depressing place in a town that's definitely seen better days economically. I guess technically it is a mall in the sense that there is a collection of business locations that are close together.

However, most of the space is unused. There's a huge former Kmart location that's now empty, several smaller shop spaces with no renters, a DMV (always a place of joy), a Tractor Supply (pretty near for animal / farm related stuff), a small business that sells and fixes computers, a bowling alley, and...

Old strip mall/shopping center. Anchored by Tractor Supply Co. and a Mini-storage (looks like a former K-mart), with other small (marginal) businesses - Dept. of Motor Vehicles office, dialysis office, Dominos, vape shop, etc. McDonald's and the Visitors Center are freestanding on one side.
