We live in a condo with limited storage space, so when we were expecting our first child I searched for a small 5x5 storage unit to make space for the Nursery.
The location off 794 South was ideal because it was close to where we both work. I went online and signed up for $30/month with an initial sign up fee. I waived the $15 insurance because we weren't putting anything of significant value in the storage.
Within the first 45 days, I experienced several frustrating interactions with SROA. When our first bill came, it included $15 for insurance. When I called to discuss, I was patched through to the corporate office, who said there was nothing they could do and I needed to speak to the local property manager, which is at a satellite location not near the storage location. I left several voicemails only to receive an email that I needed to prove I had personal property coverage of my belongings.
The following week our rate from $30 to $38 without notice. After emailing my disagreement with the 20+% increase they responded that my rate was promotional (despite it only lasting two billing cycles).
Fast forward a couple of months to January 2022, I attempted to enter the site before work around 730am. The keypad was frozen and I couldn't enter, so I called customer service. They said they couldn't help me, but would relay the message to the local office when they open around 9am. Frustrating that everything goes to Corp, but then relayed to a local office that is impossible to get in touch with. Two months later, our rate was increased again from $38 to $45 a month for a small 5x5 storage unit.
The lack of customer service, responsibility and transparency coupled with a 50% rate increase in less than 6 months results in extreme customer dissatisfaction and resentment. I highly recommend you look elsewhere for your...
Read moreWorst storage facility ever!!! The manager shannon is awful at responding to any sort of communication, you always have to leave a voicemail. Worst part is that we stored with them for 2.5 months and when we moved everything out we noticed several things were missing (tvs, fans, tool box, winter jackets etc). When we entered the unit there was boxes open and stuff thrown everywhere! It looked like a toddler went through everything. when I confronted shannon about it asking to see the video footage, knowing there are cameras everywhere she was very suspicious and refused to let us see the cameras. I then called the police and filed an incident report of missing items against SROA. the police officer was beyond helpful and alerted me that many other people are having there units broken into and stuff stolen from SROA and they aren’t doing anything about it. Screw them! Biggest money sucking company ever! I have a good feeling it was the staff stealing stuff because they gave us a lock to use and everytime I went here to check on my unit the lock was in place, and looked untouched. Save your time and money and stress!!! Sure...
Read moreMY experience with SROA was fantastic. The woman I spoke with on the phone to book the storage unit was pleasant to talk to, she answered my questions very nicely, she was patient and explained my random questions very professionally, she was very kind and walked me through the entire process until the very end. {I wish I could remember her name.}
When I got to the location, it was quite self explanatory, every building is marked in order, as are the units, it was easy to navigate.
When I arrived at the unit that was assigned to me, there was already a lock on the door, so I called the office back and spoke with the owner, Shannon. She was quick to resolve the issue and reassigned me a new unit within moments. She was also very nice and pleasant to speak with, very kind and very determined to resolve the issue as fast as possible.
Great experience all the way around. Would highly recommend....
