I don't even know where to begin. I went tonight (7/31/2020), first time I ever set foot in Rohs. Pre-ordered my tickets two weeks ago and, after that quick and painless experience, I figured it was downhill from there. WRONG. I liked the place before I ever got there because they were showing Back to the Future. When we arrived, staff of the venue were extremely polite and professional, adhering to Covid-19 regulations, mandatory masks, they had groups of seats disabled to "force" social distancing for those that maybe didn't feel they had too. I believe they were allowing three people per row inside.
Back to preorder tickets, I nearly broke the bank buying tickets, a whole $5 per ticket. (Yes, that was sarcasm). I haven't paid $5 to see movie since Back to the Future came out in 1985. Snacks and sodas inside, cost me less than $20 for sodas, popcorn, raisinettes AND junior mints. Not sure how we are surviving on these prices but thank you Rohs.
The theater was immaculate and the quality of the movie and sound was better than most chain theaters.
Please keep up the great work Rohs Opera House, keep showing the great old movies. I will definitely be back to this venue. If y'all wanted to show Back to the Future II and III, or hell, even the entire trilogy in a day, well I will definitely be there...
Read moreGreat place to catch a movie! History runs deep in this historical theater making it a great atmosphere and enjoyable experience. We sat in the balcony where they have real cushioned chairs available and our very own table! So comfortable and very affordable! We purchased tickets, candy, popcorn, and drinks and spent less than we would have bought just tickets and a drink somewhere else. They have great popcorn, a nice candy selection, and even offer adult beverages, all at reasonable prices. People often discuss how expensive movie theater concessions are, and that is NOT the case at Rohs Opera House, you can't beat their pricing. Besides movies, they are one of the most haunted places in Kentucky, and offer ghost tours in the fall, ghost hunting, a haunted escape room, and so much more including plays and other live events. There are local eateries, shopping, and even a hometown brewery all within walking distance of the theater. It's a must stop for anyone visiting Cynthiana, it is located just minutes from Lexington KY, Georgetown KY, and the Kentucky Horse Park. Visit this locally owned gem in the heart of downtown historic Cynthiana, you'll be...
Read moreThe wife and I came here for a paranormal investigation on 12/16/2022. Heard some whistling upstairs and then heard a door slam extremely loud we are sure it was the door leading to the upstairs attic from the second floor. Seen alot movement between the seat rows. Ask if there was a guy named Benjamin there and we both heard a distinct answer (yes). We heard people talking both men and women which seemed to come from the stage area. We did not see the Lady in white but did see a picture of her from our tour guide before he left us two alone for the night. Our EVP meter was constantly picking up something through out the building. We both love the history of the Rohs Opera House and we will return to see a movie and or play and investigate again soon. We both highly recommend visiting here. There is a ton of history here along with performers from Abbott and Costello and the filming part of the Blues Brothers movie here and of course the birthplace of The...
