Well, I finally had the chef-catered birthday dinner, with Chef Ross Purple, that my team at work gave me. I have to say it was an amazing night and everything turned out wonderful. Chef Ross Purple helped us plan the meal with some recommendations from his amazing menu. He arrived in his chef's jacket about two hours before everyone, fully prepared with everything he needed. It was great to chat and get to know him and he is incredibly personable. He shared how he made some of his dishes and some really personal stories of his journey, which touched my heart. An amazing man and a fantastic chef!
The dining experience was amazing and so personal. Everyone gathered at the bar, as we usually do, and make some cocktails and served a nice Cabernet. Chef Purple served us the appetizers at the bar, and they were amazing. I would have been happy just to eat a meal from the appetizers because they were so good (you can choose to do that if you want from his offerings). The Signature Chicken & Bacon Bites with BBQ Glaze were amazing; so good I forgot to take a picture of the first plate. The Mini Mac-N-Cheese Bites were delicious and so much fun to squeeze the extra cheese on them. Oh, and when you look at the pictures you have to see Chef Purple's signature picks! A little later, Chef Ross Purple let us know that the salads were ready and proceeded to the dining room where he served the next course. Everyone loved the Baby Spinach Salad with Warm Bacon Vinaigrette dressing, candied pecans, eggs, and red onion on the side. Chef Purple cleared the salad and brought on the main course of prime rib, pee wee potatoes, and sauteed green beans. The prime rib was delicious, and he made au jus and a red wine reduction that was out of this world. I mixed the au jus and red wine reduction and dipped my prime rib in that, YUMMY! Needless to say, we had leftovers, because everyone wanted to save room for dessert. Chef Purple let us watch as he prepared the Strawberries Flambe, see the video. It was amazing to watch him do it, what a pro! He then served it over salted caramel ice cream. The taste of the warm strawberries, liquor, and brown sugar sauce was amazing over the ice cream. Everything was fantastic.
Chef Ross Purple then talked with us a bit at the table and shared some personal stories and his journey as a chef. He is genuinely a warm-hearted person, a great entertainer, and a fantastic Chef! During this whole event, he occasionally would check on us to see if everything tasted good and if we needed anything. He served and cleared each course and make the night wonderful. Read moreI am writing this as someone that has been to 85+ countries, stayed at the top 100 hotels around the world as well as have eaten at multiple 3-star Michelin restaurants. So, when it comes to the space of personal chefs and good food, I can take a seat at this table.
I hired Ross to prepare food for a group of 10+ over the course of a week. We needed hot breakfasts by 7:30am, snacks and then full dinners. I had an eclectic group of travelers with me and he was going to have his work cut out for him when we had one person that enjoyed sous vide lamb leg and another that could happily live on queso and Twizzlers.
Ross was incredibly patient, flexible and wonderful at pivoting when necessary. Our group had an odd schedule and I would frequently have to ask him last minute for time changes or added people, and he always seemed to find a way. We had quite a few dietary restrictions, and he made the whole thing seem effortless. It was such a relief to not have to worry about everyone having food and eating well while on our trip.

My husband and I had a small (12 person) backyard wedding and we really wanted to make the dinner portion a big highlight since we did not have a traditional reception. Chef Ross met us at our house to look at the space, offer suggestions, and help design a delicious 5 course meal and several small bites for the cocktail hour. Chef Ross even offered to help prep a breakfast casserole that we could keep in the fridge for the next day. The day of the wedding Chef Ross showed up and was so personable taking the time to introduce himself to all of our family. He brought all the serving dishes, food, and cookware he needed, and never minded that there were always people in and out of the kitchen while he was prepping. The service he and his two servers provided throughout the cocktail hour and dinner service was absolutely top notch, and all of our guests loved them. At the end of the night they stayed late to make sure everything was cleaned up, they packaged any leftover food into containers and labeled them all for us for the next day. They cleared the table, washed all my personal dishes, put the linens into my laundry room, and even cleared and cleaned things they didn’t need to, like my breakfast and mimosa bar from the morning. We could not have asked for a better or more accommodating food and drink service team for our wedding day.
