Bloc Stop Travel Center — Local services in Dawson

This place is the cleanest, most fascinating truck stop, diner, gas station and convenience store packed into one massive space!

I recently moved to the Dawson, GA area and had no way to cook for several days. I wandered in the convenience store part of the store and asked about where people go to get real home cooked food and the counter girl was so incredibly helpful and polite and she said “you can always try the diner connected to us.” It’s called Three Squares and when I say the food is excellent, I mean better than some steakhouses I’ve eaten at.

They have about 10 booths to sit down at as well as a counter with about 7 stools. They do take out as well as dine in. They cook the food right there in the open in front of you on a grill.

By the time I realized how hungry I was I decided to order what’s called a flat iron steak, fries and a side salad for dinner. It’s almost impossible to describe in words just how delicious that steak was! I’ve made myself a promise to go there at least once a week for their steak. The prices are incredibly reasonable as well. I got that full meal with a large iced tea and it came to around $20. I’ve had their grilled cheese sandwich and fries and again, for $7. The food is so exceptional that why would anyone want to head across the street to that big chain restaurant with the huge yellow M on it and pay twice the amount for average food?

The convenience store has everything you’d imagine or need for those quick trips to the store, including hot coffee, lottery, small packs of headache medicine and all kinds of drinks and snacks. It’s sparkling clean and the service is excellent. I bought 2 cases of water and by the time I turned around to get it, Sherry already had them in her hands, ready to bring them out to my car! This Truck Stop is wonderful. Lots of parking at crazy hours. Parking is $10.00, Showers are $10.00 AND CLEAN. They provide the towels, bring your own toiletries. They do have a Diner, 3 Squares. Laundry, two washers, two dryers, I think it's $1.75 to wash and $1.75 to dry. Bring quarters. They have a Drivers Lounge with slot machines. They have a dog park, cameras all over the parking lot, which is well lighted. Now for the staff.... I didn't have any issues with night shift or day shift for that matter. The night I parked, I called to see if they charged for parking? when I went inside, I was pleasantly surprised. The cashier was so sweet, kind, and helpful. She was folding towels. I said, you have Showers... are they clean? She said, yes and showed me. Ya know, some truck stop Showers "look" clean, these Showers are clean. The store was well maintained. The Diner, you can order take out or sit at a table. This place is fantastic. Oh... and there is also a Dollar...

This is one of THE BEST TRUCK STOPS IN AMERICA! It has been newly renovated, the parking lot is absolutely incredible, the inside has plenty of stalls(for when morning calls lol), the diner is absolutely incredible, the fuel islands are great, everything smells and looks AWESOME!!!!

So why am I rating this a 3 / 5 stars? BECAUSE THEY ARE CHARGING FEE'S FOR PARKING!!!!! STOP! THIS IS DAWSON, GA! No need to charge truck driver's extra money to park here! YOUR TRUCK STOP SELLS ITSELF! YOU WILL MAKE A LOT OF MONEY OFF OF US! STOP TRYING TO MAKE EXTRA MONEY OFF OF US! I WILL AVOID THIS TRUCK STOP IN THE FUTURE IF THEY CONTINUE TO TRY AND CHARGE US...
