Trust me when I say I want the market to do well and be there for a long time. BUT. ..Make sure to look at all the reviews because slot of the same issues are mentioned but those reviews are down at the bottom .
That all being said I have given some time made multiple visits , all while keeping in mind they are new and they will have things to work threw. That's understandable and fair..
But as it stand there prices are higher. And slot of the options of items are more fancy or specialty that carry a higher price tag in general
There are many items I can get at dollar general or family dollar for $1 but the market has them prices .20-.30 cents higher. So I'm sure like many others if I know I can get something for a dollar that's were I'm going to go to get it
I know it's just change really but it all adds up ,and I have to really watch all the pennies as it is
And back to the fancy or specialty items. To me there just seems to be many of them that won't sell before they reach an expiration date and they have to be thrown out or whatever and that's just a ton of wasted money !!
I have been happy with the fresh produce and would continue to go there for those items because it's just the closest and easiest place to me to get them.
So at the end of the day allot of people have talked about prices being to high and they really are. So I hope they are listening and reading reviews and will take steps to try and make a change. Because it's just not at all affordable for me in any way ,and the area has slot of people that are in a limited income so it's really hot affordable to them either.
And again I want it to do well and to actually be an affordable place for people to go! And a market that we will what to go to. Before people decide to just stop going altogether because they can afford to even if they...
Read moreMy mother reserved the kitchen from 8am-6pm checked on everything the last three days before our actual scheduled date! Just to come here and for them to say sheâs on the list but they didnât know she was coming! They had an inventory âteamâ in the kitchen instead of the back room! Because thatâs actually empty as I write! The âmanagerâ said they would be done in 20min. They have taken up space for way over an hour! Itâs uncomfortable to cook and bake and be comfortable doing so with people around that werenât supposed to be here at your personal scheduled time! My mom still had to pay $50 for the reservation even though⌠this lady is STILL sitting here! This is disgusting and also might I add VERY unsanitary considering BOTH people that wonât leave keep coughing! And I HATE! Germs. I would recommend coming IN a day before and at least 30min to an hour early to check the place out and make sure youâre straight! STILL SITTING HERE! In my personal opinion NEVER AGAIN! And I have two stars because Iâm still going to bake and cook and try and enjoy my family time that was...
Read moreThere are many good things to say about Gem City Market....and others have ran the gambit. This entire neighborhood is full of people and families that simply cannot afford their prices. Unless the very well off owners ( that do not work as employees) are going to keep the market afloat with their business alone its doomed to fail. I had hoped that since it is a "Neighborhood Grocery Market" it should help to build up the community. I spent over $60.00 and these items were gone in 3 days. The bonus of buying well placed ( location) land for pennies on the dollar should RED FLAG as this store will struggle and then fade away like the McDonalds (Seriously, this very diverse [đ¤Ť] neighborhood could not sustain a McDonalds between Downtown, N. Main St., The Princeton area and further up Salem to Cornell??) Its a boutique store at best and worst. The High Brow and elitist Aura of the place is made to covet A certain kind of person and at the same time alienate residents of this community (Not THAT caretain kind of person....
