I played in a NLH Double Board tournament and ran into several problems. This was one of my first non regular NLH tournaments and went in hoping I would be able to focus on my play, but it was clear early on that I had to spend the later part of each hand I was in watching to make sure any side pots and chopped pots were calculated and paid out correctly. In the first hour, I had to call out at least 3 times when the dealer pushed my winning chips to the wrong player. I'm not calling out anyone specifically, but a couple of the female dealers were just having a bad day or in over their heads. I will say Serena was awesome and we had zero issues with her. If we had her the entire tournament I don't think we would have had a single problem. I actually got shorted several thousand chips on one pot and I'm such a non confrontational guy that I didn't make a big issue about it, but thinking back I should have definitely asked for a supervisor and for them to go to the cameras. This happened in the first half of the tournament and I was the chip leader or close to it with around 100k chips and the average stack was probably around 30k. Long story short, the lady across from me only had a little over 5k left and I made a 15k bet which she called and the two other players behind her folded. The river came, she hit what she needed on both boards and she scooped the pot, but the dealer had already taken my chips and began to slide them to her. I said hold on, and said I should have gotten a refund. The dealer said I already gave you a 100 refund... I asked the dealer if that meant the lady had 14,900 chips (knowing she only had around 5k back when I made the bet). She looked confused and panicked and said hold on... Did some "calculations" and slid me a few thousand in chips. At this point, we hit the break so everyone at the table was already up and leaving while I sat there running through my head what just happened. I think the lady knew she had been gifted a mistake and she left for break. As I sat there and confirmed that I had definitely been shorted more than 5k in chips the female dealer apologized multiple times. Again, I wish I had pushed the issue, but I just told her it was ok and went on break. I ended up in the money so not a completely bad experience. I'll also say that I think it takes an experienced and above average dealer to handle these Omaha/Bomb Pot games that require a high level of paying attention and math.
Overall, the tournament was well ran, but I'd recommend putting your best dealers on these games in the future.
Also, had one or two dealers that seemed to be miserable, but they were good at dealing so I guess they get a pass. Everyone else working here were happy and friendly which I think is important and really appreciate.
Overall, a great poker room with friendly staff and plenty of tables. Just be prepared to say something if your chips accidentally get sent...
Read moreI have a review..... I am a 43 year old women and I went to this track Tuesday of this week and spoke with a women at the front desk of the poker room. She told me to go fill out an application on there in house computer and to come back between 11-1 on Friday. That is all she told me. So then Friday I went in and was talked to like I was a second class citizen. Then I was told that I wasn't even dressed the way I was suppose to be dressed. Well, no one told me there was a dress code for this interview when I came in on Tues nor was it anywhere on the application that I filled out. Then I realized not long after I was there that they never even saw my application and didn't even realize I filled one out. I spoke with Juan in the poker room and explained to him that I would do anything, I just need a job. He looked at me and said today is not a good day for this but if you come back monday at 12 we will see. Ok well if that is the way they treat people and do business then maybe I don't want to work for a company like that. Its sad that grown women see a beautiful person inside and out and feel that she is somehow a threat, or a beautiful women can't get hired because the mans wife who hired her will then live in hell. That is discrimination I don't care how you look at it. It happens more than you think regardless if they admit it or not. I deal with this often when I know I am qualified for the job. Im deeply saddened by the way I was treated and Im posting this to just bring awareness to companies that put people in management positions that somehow think they are better than there...
Read moreLoved the place except for the bums. I am a bigger better and when you have people standing around and watching what you bet on machines and watching you when you get happy when you win big. You have all sorts of bums come out. I had one guy tell me that he has clients. Yes I'm white but no discrimination at all and he was black he told me that they paid him half of every winning ticket that he helped them get hit the losing tickets he didn't owe on that was. Apiece of work. This should not be allowed there. It goes on plenty here in Kentucky at the red mile race track and they say it's against the rules but do nothing about it. I bet over 150k a year and I go out of state and it still goes on. This needs to be stopped. It's nothing for me to place a wager between 500 and 800 a race and I'm sure the people at Daytona race track can confirm from my players card but it's ridiculous to have those lingering bums that never bet any money for themselves to come up and starry talking to you and ask for betting money espically when they see you hit a big one. I thought the red mile was a bad place. It's just as bad everywhere you go. I like betting on the machines because most of the time the tellers get your bets wrong and it needs to stop security needs to be trained in watching who is betting and who is not betting. People asking strangers for 100. It's ridiculous. That's the only issue I have with Daytona beach track except they took out all you can eat crab leg dinner night. It's all about saving a few bucks instead of making people happy when they bet a lot...
