some of these animals have worse living conditions than they would at a zoo. though the people that work with the animals here are incredible, you can tell they care very deeply and work very hard. There just isn't enough space- but if the owner can make some money off of cramming exotic animals into that tiny building then whats anybody to say about it. Last i checked they had two adult whites TREE FROGS in a horizontal 10 maybe 15 gallon tank. Thats cruelty. Hopefully it's since been changed. The owner was also keeping fully grown ball pythons in plastic containers with nothing but a water bowl and newspaper which made me feel so gross and horrible for those snakes. Plenty of these animals deserve so much more than being shown off for a 10$ entrance fee.
in response to being asked if i brought up my concerns, i did! i was shut down multiple times because apparently the owner knows what is best for the animals. Also, any amount of research can tell you that the living conditions of multiple of the animals are in fact not correct or good for them. tree frogs live in canopies, love to climb, and belong in a vertical enclosure. a 10 or 15 gallon tank is barely big enough for a single adult let alone two. we were also told to fill all the animals bowls with tap water repeatedly by the owner, and when we brought up the fact that reptiles and amphibians were sensitive to chemicals in the water, we were told that plastic bottles would filter the chemicals out. again yes i brought up my concerns and nothing was done- this is one of the reasons i left. That’s all i have to say, thank you so much for your...
Read moreFirst some back story, we have a wonderful little dog that we can take anywhere because he is so will behaved. He is small enough to fit into a shopping basket. When we heard about Pandermonium we wanted to go there because we too love and support animals. Before we went for the first time we called and asked if it would be okay to bring Eddie, our little dog, in the store. We were told yes, but were asked to carry him. We complied with this request and Eddie enjoyed the experience on many occassions and never had a problem. This past Friday when my wife went to the store to make a large donnation she was verbally accosted by a male staff member. He told her very rudely that she couldn't carry Eddie in the store. It also should be noted that there is no posting that states that you cannot bring a small dog in the store. It also should be noted that the store has dogs and cats roaming around. My wife contined to shop dispite being bullied by this man and there was no incident that occured with Eddie.
The complaint here is how my wife was treated. She is a very generouse woman who loves animals. How she was treated by the staff has led her to the decision that she no longer wants to donate. It would be my hope that the management of the business would not support the unproffesional rudeness of the male staff. It could lead one to conclude that the caring for animals is more self serving and a facade for other...
Read moreI went for the first time and had high hopes. I went with family and also had my elderly mother with me. She has a walker. The place is not handicap friendly. They have a ramp to get on the first floor but that's about it. She couldn't go down the stairs to the basement. She really went to see the tropical birds but she couldn't do that either because the bird section is in the back and it's on a slope with rough ground so you can't go down there if you have a wheelchair or walker. I told her that we would help her get down there but she was too scared to do it. They need to pave that so the disabled could walk down to that section too. I go to estate sales every week and all the thrift stores. Normally I find lots of great things. This store is filled with junk. Goodwill stores are much better. So my daughter and I walked down to see the birds and they said it was $10 to walk through the little bird section. I told my daughter that I was not going to pay ten bucks to look at the few birds they had in there, and as we were leaving, one of the male workers said "Well then screw you." I didn't say anything back because it wasn't worth it to get into it. He is lucky that I didn't respond to that because the whole state of CT would have heard me. But I kept my temper and just left. If you live far from there, save your gas. There are better...
