Fareway Meat Market — Local services in Des Moines

I am a disabled senior citizen..end stage renal failure (dialysis) and lumbar herniated discs. I live 3 minutes by car from this store. Since they opened a few yrs ago, I have had -several- unpleasant experiences with this particular store. I only go up to this Fareway because of their deli dept. Otherwise, I order online from WDM store on Grand Ave. , as they are exceptional with customer service. Today, 11:00AM, Sat. Weekend before 4th of July holiday, I manage to get up there with my cane, proceed to deli. to get smoked turkey breast deli meat (with my health condition I have to be careful with my diet..the turkey is super lean and lower sodium levels then packaged stuff). I am told “It is cooling”….”come back in 30 minutes”.SERIOUSLY????I explain my health condition and how difficult it was to just get up there now. Reaction: blank stares..I turn and walk away. On my way out I run into another employee who identified herself as a manager. I explained situation (surely she could see how upset I was)…Response: “I get it”. Clearly: she DOES NOT GET IT!” She Offered no solution (perhaps order online and drive up). None of the lazy employees at this particular location care about the customers…it is SO obvious that they are there only for the paycheck. 1 out of 2 times that I go into this location, I end up with soaring high blood pressure and have to take extra dose of my medication. TRULY, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE here! Also it is very obvious to anyone that is paying attention(other customers) how discriminatory they are towards the seniors and the disabled. During winter weather, WDM store is too far for me to drive to. I will return to Hyvee (Online shopping and delivery…even though their prices are higher and tip/delivery fee leave me with practically no money til next month’s social security check). SO DISAPPOINTING AND JUST PLAIN PATHETIC, FAREWAY! But hey, no biggy…just one little old lady, right? LAME...

Beautiful small fairway, but can you make it move obvious to racially profile me. I was followed by an older white lady through out my visit. It was my first time there and last I didn't even have a big purse or any purse for her to think I would hide or steal something. Cashier was unhappy to see us as she looked us up and down probably making sure old lady didn't miss something The sad part is not did I only notice but also my kids who were shopping with me tonite. That's why I will remain a hyvee shopper they are more friendly and kind to their customers...

Not impressed with my purchase at the meat counter tonight. Ordered sliced beef and sliced turkey. Got home and realized that both packages were labeled as London broil roast beef at $9.99/lb. (Not a bargain in the first place) and am quite sure the turkey was labeled in the counter at significantly lower than $9.99/lb. Also, both packages were labeled "best used by 9.2.24." That's 3-4 days away. Obviously the meat was not too fresh. Not happy and won't be returning. I have always trusted Fareway's meat dept....
