*Update: Dropped to one star after experience tonight, which will be my last visit to any Price Chopper (HyVee and Fareway are cheaper, just FYI). As I said below I worked here when it was Dahl’s, and what I saw tonight would’ve gotten people fired or reprimanded. Store was dirty, things weren’t stocked, cashier didn’t say one word to me besides the total for my gallon of milk and a package of M&M’s. No manager help anywhere, the parking lot still needs to be replaced and no one here is helpful. I’ll will not be back again, and suggest others avoid this store as well.
Original(3 star): Use to shop here and even worked here for almost five years when it was Dahls - now its hard for me to go in. Sure, the store is still open but it isn't the same. No more fresh baked bakery goods in house (hate to burst your bubble, but those come from Ingersoll or Merle Hay every day), the selection isn't what it used to be and the layout is weird. Also its painted this weird pea green on the inside which has always thrown me off. We started shopping other places when the prices continued to rise at Dahls, and have unfortunately had to continue doing so. Its a good 'run in, run out' store, but beyond that for me, I just don't...
Read morePrice Chopper will never comes close to Dahl’s. Dahl’s was never the cheapest, but they never claimed to be. The name itself suggests they chop prices. They do not in fact. Most of their products in fact are more costly than Hy-Vee on a regular basis. E.G. compare their orange juice....it’s always about .70 more, even on “sale”. They also no longer have a fresh meats dept, but if you fancy pop, this is the place to go!
In fact, they greatly reduced their liquor selection and placed it in an odd rectangular configuration near the front of the store. Weird.
Finally, the entire aesthetics of the store is funky. There is usually no music playing and they remodeled the register areas when they took over a few years back to appeal to customers who like that claustrophobic feel I guess. They added these strange overhang arches over the register, which only serve to block out light.
Update 2024. They also decided to get rid of the bottle return about 2 years ago. Say they needed the space for freezers! Of course, they still charge the .05 on...
Read moreI do not like how I was treated by the general store manager Micheal(Mike) P. on Monday the 27th. He refused to sell me a Tabacco product while viewing my ID! He looked at my ID then joking asked if I was old enough, so joking back I said no because clearly on my government ID I’m definitely of age. So he told me he cnt sell them to me because I said no, he told me that is a law. But what really pissed me off was the fact the guy who checked out before me, Micheal(THE MANAGER) didn’t Even ID him!!!! Then had the nerve to tell me “ohhh I Always id him no need to do it anymore”. I feel like if he cnt sell me something while looking at my ID he defiantly shouldn’t sell to anyone who you don’t even ID! Thank you for the HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE MICHEAL P (the gerneral manager @ beverdale location)...
