My initial experience here was great found a dress I loved but that is about where it ends. I dress shopped in September 2024 for my June 2025 wedding which I was told was plenty of time not to worry. I then received an email on Feb 5th saying my dress was to ship March 21st. When late March rolled around I had not heard anything and sent several messages about status of my dress - much to find no response. I finally got a response on April 4th that there were some delays (at that point I thought tariffs in the midst of what was happening in the world) that they would be gone for the week but they would call me no matter what on Friday April 11th. That day came and much like the rest- no call - keep in mind already ghosting me for 3 weeks. I reached out on Monday April 13th a mere 8 weeks before my wedding where I was told that my dress would not be coming. I was given no real reason as to why just "issues with the vendor". I was given no information on what they had done to rectify just that I could come in and pick from a handful of other gowns that could possibly be here in 4-6 weeks but no guarantee. When I came back in (in the middle of my busy work week because they failed to call me on Friday when I could have made this a weekend problem) I was greeted like it was just any other appointment and was not once even told sorry or given any clear explanation as to what had happened just swept under the rug.
I sent a text message after waiting 2 weeks for my refund (which luckily did get back) saying I would not leave a bad review but that I felt like I didn't get the truth and did not even get an apology during the whole thing. Of course I was met with NO response. I know it is early in the business here which is why I didn't want to leave this review but the lack of providing the truth, no real apology and lack of ownership in the situation leaves me here.
At the time I thought it was just me and I prayed this didn't happen to another bride but I also see someone else had the same problem. It also looks like they waited until May 21st to deliver the bad news when they clearly knew April 13th when they called me!! Shame on them for prolonging the bad news during crucial and stressful times for brides!!
I was lucky enough to have another bridal boutique in town that went above and beyond during this worst nightmare but I do not wish this upon...
Read moreKalon Bridal Studio is hands down the BEST bridal studio in Des Moines. As a 2025 bride, I had no idea where to start when it came to finding my dream wedding dress, but that all changed when I discovered Kalon. I was passing by one day and decided to stop in, and that’s when I met Annie. She is the sweetest, most vibrant soul! Annie gave me a full tour of the studio and provided so much helpful information about what to consider when ordering a wedding dress, from fabrics to fit and timelines. After that experience, I knew immediately that Kalon Bridal Studio was where I’d find my dress.
When I scheduled my appointment, I was blown away by the personalized attention I received. About two weeks before my appointment, both Annie and Paiton reached out to me for an in-depth video call. They took the time to really get to know me and my vision, asking thoughtful questions that made me feel so heard and valued. They even created a custom mood board based on everything we discussed. The level of care and detail they put into this process was unmatched.
The day of my appointment was absolutely magical! They greeted me and my wedding party with warmth and excitement, creating such a luxe and welcoming atmosphere. We were treated to champagne and an amazing charcuterie board, which made the whole experience feel even more special. Annie and Paiton went above and beyond to help me find dresses that perfectly matched my vision. They have an impressive selection of dresses, from timeless classics to unique, one-of-a-kind pieces that you won’t find anywhere else.
What really stood out was their genuine dedication to helping me find the dress. I was looking for something classic, chic, and absolutely stunning, and they completely understood my vision. Read moreBack in August 2024, my fiancée purchased a dress she loved at Kalon for our wedding in August 2025. Following a couple months of no updates, in February 2025 we were informed the dress would be delivered in April 2025 - great! When it gets to a week before our appointment to get the dress, we were informed that the dress will not be arriving on time as they had not received a shipment notification from the designer. They assured us that they would reach out to the designer and get an update on when the dress would be delivered. We followed up with them three times between May 12th and May 21st, until we finally received a call saying they would not be receiving the dress and had cut ties with the designer.
Looking to get to the bottom of this, we called the designer, Vagabond, and asked for their side of the story.
Despite being ordered late August of 2024, Kalon did not submit the order to Vagabond until early January 2025. Vagabond then shared multiple screenshots showing them reaching out to Kalon 10 times between January 9th and March 5th for additional measurements (not just for our dress but for many others) and being ignored at every turn.
The women at Kalon lied to us, ignored the designer, and left us without a dress just three months before our wedding without giving us any warning of the actual situation. We gave Kalon the opportunity to prove their side of the story as well and were met with crickets.
