A truck drivers review.
First of all really big parking lot. Get a lot of trucks in here. Next, it’s quiet. I don’t think a truck came in to fuel all evening when I was here. Across the street they have a steakhouse that opens at 5 o’clock. Food was pretty doggone good. Had a real decent prime rib for not too bad price. The Truck stop doesn’t sell any food except what’s off on the shelf. It has a little place to sit that they call a truckers lounge but it’s not much. They say they have showers. I didn’t see them so I can’t tell you about that but they do have showers. They close at 11 o’clock in the evening so if you need a bathroom or whatever there’s some bushes or trees in behind a lot. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that. Friendly enough people, security comes around, but doesn’t bother anybody. Just wants to make sure nothing happens out here I guess. I don’t charge you to park, which is great in these times. All in all, it’s not a bad place to be. They have a hotel right beside the place And the rooms are absolutely huge. Built back in the 50s. I think a lot of old school look to it. Place was clean nice nice people. Have another restaurant beside the hotel that burger place kind of thing. It’s basic Mexican food. This place was built in 1949 and it’s still standing and still seems to be pretty well clean I didn’t see any messes no crash laying around nothing. If you’d like to drive motorcycles, dirtbike types or four wheelers they have a track they run on on the weekends here behind the truckstop. Nice crowd, good people. So if you’re looking for a quiet place to park or food doesn’t cost too much in a hotel that won’t break the bank. That’s really a nice room oh and there’s several pools there that are nice. It’s just a...

Now I'm not exactly a driver of big trucks, but I came here all the same just to check the place out. First and foremost, it's pretty disappointing that the diner is no longer open, and that's a real shame since otherwise I think that would have been the highlight of this particular store. South of the border's website makes no mention of this, so they should definitely change that.
Now they do have diesel fuel here if you do require that and they do have small showers behind their bathrooms in case you are driving a big truck late at night, but other than that, honestly, this is essentially just another store that south of the Border has to offer.
There are some snacks you can get here, there is a driver's lounge for truck drivers, you can even get wiper fluid and toilet paper here, bumper stickers for your car, and of all things, you can get some silly fake IDs based on The Andy...
Read moreThe only thing good about this place is that there is parking. But beware of pot holes that will swallow up a Volkswagen car in a heartbeat lol.
The truck stop is NOT open 24 hrs and doesn't even open at a decent time in the morning. The only bathroom you have is to walk across the street diagonally to the corner gas station and go to the public restroom building.
This building/bathroom is disgusting and needs serious help. It is used by very seedy folks and is in need of serious deep cleaning.
SOB is in need of serious repair and or to just be torn down and start again. It's a real shame, this location used to be so awesome and was well maintained back in its glory days.
So many lights out, faded paint, broken signs, and just cheesy gifts for sale and a very over priced steak house that serves average at best food.
Keep traveling south or north and By-Pass SOB and you'll do yourself a favor to...
