I’m glad to have Weis just outside of Hemlock, but they really come up short compared to most any other grocery store, and it aggravates my wife and I regularly. Produce: horrible quality! Much of the fruit is tasteless. Produce is left out forever. To buy an apple, you have to pick through the rotten ones, and the dried out ones to find a winner. Berries have to be opened, or you are going home with a box of mold. Citrus, you’d better find heavy ones, as they are nearly always weeks old and dried out. If they committed to selling quality fruits and vegetables, they’d sell a ton more. Their roasted chickens need to be cooked for 20 more minutes. As bought, they are bleeding require muscles to even get a leg off that bird. And always check expiration dates. Every time my wife shops there, she comes home with multiple past expiration items. And the Chocolate covered strawberries for Valentines, just an embarrassing wet mushy moldy mess. I took those back, and the lady gave me attitude, telling me it’s a fresh product, so I should expect some of them to be that way. Really, moldy chocolate covered strawberries for $25 for the one I love? If Weiss didn’t have a monopoly in this area, they would be out of business. Being the only grocery around, I’m still hopeful after 9 years here that they might get their act together and do the right thing.
*In reply to Weis’ generic corporate reply, if you read my review, it should be obvious that this isn’t something to be fixed with a conversation, a coupon, a refund, or anything that would come from me calling you. That’s why I posted this publicly. Either top management/ownership or whoever sets your SOPs needs to commit to a global change in your standards. I probably couldn’t leave a Walmart, ShopRite, or Trader Joes with $50 of inedible food if I tried, but this happens weekly at Weis even while shopping selectively. You should be throwing away the food unfit for consumption instead of charging your customers to do it for you. We regularly drive 25, even 50 miles, so as to get groceries anyplace but Weiss. Multiply that by how many other people in this community do the same, and you are leaving a lot of money on the table. Every bad review represents at least 100 other people with the same complaint. This isn’t an employee who messed up, or a tough week, it’s been this way for at least the nine years that I’ve lived two miles from your store. Raise your standards, change your SOP, and I’ll happily turn this to five stars. Make it impossible for me to leave with bags full of food unfit for human consumption. I want you to succeed more than...
Read moreEvery time I go this store I see 3-4 young employees standing idly at the front of the store , chitchatting and killing time while customers are using the self checkout .
I have no issue with people who prefer self checkout but I really dislike it when the store forces me to do that while their employees all take it easy and have a time out .
I come from a long day at work and I pay for my groceries . I don’t work for Weiss and I certainly do not work for free . To have a full shopping cart that I have to check out and then bag , while Weiss employees watch me , really boils my blood .
Tonight I asked the 3 employees who were, as always , chatting and watching the customers do all the work , if they could open the register . One of the young ladies said , “I guess I could “, meaning It was really a bother . I made the comment that I don’t work there and that they are all just sitting around , she looked at her coworkers and they all rolled their eyes .
I don’t appreciate this type of customer service ; I spend my hard earned $ at your store and I expect to be treated professionally .
I have to deal with this type of attitude every single time I shop there . Why do I always have to ask them to open a register ???
Extremely frustrated and really annoyed with this attitude and service . I think it’s worth my trip to Matamoras at Shop Rite , they always have at least two to three registers open at all times and the staff is always professional .
I have been shopping at this store for the past 5 years and it seems to be just getting...
Read moreI’m in this grocery store everyday.
Today there was an old lady at self check out, when it came time for me to pay the machine didn’t accept my payment (I was trying to use an expired cards- whoops) The machine announces that you need another method of payment when it doesn’t work.
This old lady proceeded to stand behind me telling me I need to select debit or credit, when I told her I did that: and that I didn’t need her help. She then yelled at me that she works there and that’s not how this works.
I just didn’t want some old lady standing over me while I select a new payment method and look for another card. I was embarrassed, confused as to why my card wasn’t working and clearly expressed to her THAT I KNEW HOW TO PAY AND JUST NEEDED A SECOND. She refused to walk away and started a confrontation with me instead. I use self check out because I have crippling social anxiety. The last thing I needed was this old woman refusing to walk away when I told her I didn’t need help. Just because you work at a store it doesn’t mean you get to force yourself on someone. If I’m confused or need...
