Dixon May Fair — Local services in Dixon

I've gone to the Dixon May Fair three years in a row now. I've had a pretty good experience all three years. The first year my son was showing a lamb so I was there all day for about three days straight. In my experience, most of the time, the atmosphere is laid back and fun. The fair is all about animals, carnival rides and games, food, and fun.

This year, I took two of my kids to the carnival at night. While it was generally peaceful, there was something in the air that put me on guard. There were a lot of teenage kids and twenty-somethings walking around. Two guys who were slurring their words yelled at me saying, "f**k the Padres, go Giant's". I didn't care about them at all, but if that kind of thing rattles your nerves, then keep that in mind. The police were seen rushing to a handful of incidents in the three hours that I was there. Other than that, everything was about the same as it is in the daytime.

The food is expensive, in my opinion. If you partake in alcoholic beverages, you'll need cash and a comfortable pair of shoes because you'll be waiting in a long line.

The musical acts are usually in the country genre. That makes sense considering most of the people walking around will be wearing some sort of...

The Dixon Mayfair is most definitley an event which should not be disregarded when one has the opportunity to attend. The may fair is a host to a numerous collection of rides & commercial stands which house numerous products and experiences which, whilst can most likely be experienced elsewhere, it has a unique charm to be experienced in such a small city such as Dixon. One main negative of the fair is the overwhelming expense of purchasing food but considering that the fair ground seems to be a grand expense on part of the city of dixon and the food trucks which deploy themselves on the fair grounds, it is somewhat understandable as to why the price of certain foods and drinks are substantially more expensive.
