I recently had an unfortunate experience at West Indian Caricom Market that I believe other customers should be aware of. On this occasion, while attempting a quick pickup of two barrels, I was confronted by the owner in a manner that was both condescending and unnecessarily hostile. During my recent visit, I parked momentarily in front of the driveway to quickly grab the barrels, as it was about to rain and the owner was already unloading his truck. I anticipated being there for no more than four minutes. As soon as I entered the store, the owner followed me and aggressively pointed out a sign indicating not to block the driveway. Despite my explanation and assurance that I would only be a few minutes, he insisted I move my vehicle immediately, claiming he needed to leave.
After moving my car and waiting, I noticed he only moved his vehicle five feet forward, still blocking the driveway himself. This felt unnecessarily punitive, especially considering he had done something similar the previous week, directing me to exit from the entrance. When I attempted to discuss this double standard calmly, the owner responded with unwarranted anger, emphasizing that it was his place of business and expressing frustration over people blocking the driveway.
While I understand his concern, his approach was excessively harsh, particularly given that I was not grocery shopping but simply making a quick pickup. As a customer, I felt disrespected and undervalued. It's important for potential customers to be aware of the sign and avoid stopping in front of the driveway to avoid similar confrontations. Due to this negative experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Thank you for the disservice, which was...
Read moreI love this spot 😎👍. Anyone looking for Caribbean food (Caribbean groceries) in general or Jamaican food (Jamaican groceries) specifically, it’s all there. Look out for the flags and drive in. They update me about get-togethers they tend to keep on weekends and what grocery they have in stock so I know exactly when to go to get what I need. Janet even gives recipe ideas when people like me don’t have a clue how to make some good Jamaican jerk chicken 😄. The nicer you are, the nicer they are... so if you didn’t know, now you know. I don’t usually recommend places but this one...
Read moreGood selection of groceries& seasonings. Moving here from NYC it was good finding this place. They also serve cooked food on Friday and Saturday. Some of the meatiest, tastiest oxtails I've had in a long time and I'm a foodie!! They cook the jerked meat right outside on the grill. I've tried 2 other places in Dover and this place beat both of them hands down. They should advertise the friday and sat food more or get flyers and pass out to all of the new communities in smyrna & Dover. A lot of NYC people moving in the area looking for good food like this! Keep up...
