I really wanted to love this place. It's been on my bucket list for years so I was excited to check it out since we were camping in Dowagiac. The place itself is beautiful, almost unchanged since it's opening in 1922. There is a "soda bar", plenty of ice cream and loads of different candies. My husband and I enjoyed the candy and soda but what really turned us off was the lack of passion the employees showed towards their products. Each time we asked about how something tasted they would respond "it's ok". I guess I just thought a candy shop would have more energetic and enthusiastic employees. My daughter and I went in because we wanted to check it out for the first time and we ordered ice cream and sat in there to eat it. Ice cream was great and the place looks amazing. Would be nice if they had friendly service. The cashier had good customer service. Good customer service with a smile is what keeps me coming back but the other girl didn't even smile while waiting on us and made us feel uncomfortable...
