Well went there last night with another person. It's wasn't too crowded some tables had customers. We sat down for some drinks, we wanted a season beer they didn't have, so we asked for a minute to decide. Waited roughly 5-10 mins no one came, then another waitress came, we knew what we wanted so asked for the 2 drinks specials. She walked away and never seen her come back with drinks. We waited a while I would say a good 5 more mins, so we're talking about a good 15 minutes, hardly anyone there and 2 waitresses. We even looked around for her and couldn't find her. We walked out. So it was slow, he had 2 waitresses to our table, 15 minutes passed, and no drinks. Plus we wanted food! So we left. What a joke! So I would come here a couple of times a month, even made good review on it way back in another post. But now I'm out! I don't give more chances when get my time wasted. So walked down the street block down north east side on the corner oak and ash, and wow! That's my new spot in Dowagiac. Lady came right out for order, got 2 drinks in seconds, and waters, place is large and roomy, lots of windows which is nice with the sun out, ordered 2 burgers and came with a side, $8.00 burgers, heck ya! Verse down the street, they were so good and guess what minnow? The food came out in like 3 minutes. Couldn't believe it. Service and food were top notch. 2 drinks, 2 burgers with side, under $40 with tip. Dear owner of minnow, you lost 2 customers that would go there twice a month and more in the summer. And now my stop is oak and ash. Thanks for the terrible service as I found a new place that's great taste, great fast service with a smile and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was excited to try this place. My daughter is a student at SMC, and I have struggled to find a good place close by to take her and her friends for a great meal. (Not fast food) But I am very sad that it did not live up to the pictures I have previously seen. After seeing many reviews and experiencing it for myself....I am guessing they either they have a big staff turnover or not real consistent management. Our server was pleasant, helpful, and sweet. I had Beer Batter Cod and she had Chicken Tenders. Cod was definitely fried in too hot old grease. Very small pieces. French fries were the skinny crinkle kind and over fried. I usually love coleslaw, but this tasted like it might have been out of the fridge too long or stored by a heat source. The fried pickles were pretty good. My daughter is not a picky eater but definitely did not like her chicken tenders. She said they were too crispy. She couldn't eat them. I saw someone eating a cheeseburger, and I WISHED I had ordered that instead. It looked pretty good. I'd say we'd try again but the "Extra Charges" for so many things was a little over the top for me. Charging for water? Plain unsweetened Iced Tea is Extremely cheap to make in comparison to fountain drinks but it's priced more than a fountain drink???? The 3.99% charge for cards? And the calculated tip suggestions were NOT correct. (I just heard that this was a thing and have been curious, so I've been checking) I am a great tipper across the board always tip at least 20% or a lot more. However, the calculations should be correct. Hopefully this was just a bad night and if we try again it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off, I do want to say that the food here is very good, we have enjoyed everything we had ordered. However, we went out to eat at The Wounded Minnow tonight. Itās St Patrickās day and we wanted to do something fun but local with our kids. It was not the nice time out to eat that we expected. We got there later than we typically eat dinner, so we ordered an appetizer to hold us over. I didnāt keep track of what time we got there, but it had to have been at least 30 minutes before the app was ready. Meanwhile I had a view of the kitchen and saw that our baskets with a burger and fish and chips had been sitting out for at least 10-15 minutes. The whole purpose of an appetizer is to have it to eat shortly after you order it, and before your meal is ready. Our kids (and us) were very hungry and grumpy by this time so we just asked the waitress to box our food up and we took it home. The table next to us, who sat down at the same time as us, had eaten over half of their main meal already by this time. We like to support local restaurants, but this is the 4th time in a row that we have had a bad experience at Wounded Minnow, and only 1 time did they make an effort to do anything more than say they were sorry. All of the mishaps were from food related issues or seemingly incompetence from the staff, both of which shouldnāt be so prevalent in a well...
