St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church — Local services in Dundee Township

Excellent Greek Festival. Very well organized, super clean and plenty of indoor air conditioned seating and outdoor seating. Everyone working at the fair was super friendly and they had plenty of help working at every station. The food is all homemade and better than any Greek restaurant as it’s all authentic, fresh and traditional family recipes! Excellent variety of items to choose from that won’t break your pocketbook. We took food home as well as a dozen different kinds of sweets!! Easy free parking on the street or in the church lot for a $5 fee. Crafts, jewels and variety of cultural items for sale as well. Music all day, band and various dancing featured at night. This brand new church was completed in 2021 and just absolutely beautiful! The church is right off the 90 freeway in Elgin with very easy access. Best thing is they take credit, debit and cash for everything! Definitely on our yearly festival list from now on! If you live in the suburbs this is an easy quick drive vs going all the way in the city. No traffic jams and the fair wasn’t crowded. Very enjoyable...

Our group got a 75 minutes tour of the new church with the priest. It would have nice to see more of this facility. Learned a lot about Christian Orthodoxy in our tour.
