We moved into the Villas of Castleton Apartments in July 2025 during a very difficult time, and I can’t say enough good things—especially about Raychelle. She was incredible: compassionate, honest, and lightning-fast at responding to my endless questions, even emailing me multiple times a day. We had to apply sight unseen because no units were available to tour, and she went above and beyond to make sure we felt completely secure, sending videos and patiently walking us through every detail.
When we got our keys, everything exceeded expectations: fresh paint, brand-new carpet, updated finishes, all new appliances, and thoughtful touches like new toilet seats. The Villas team does an amazing job keeping the apartments modern and spotless. On top of that, we arrived to a sweet welcome basket with mugs, a cutting board, and toys for our cats, plus a personalized card with all our names—including the cats’. It’s rare to feel so welcomed as pet owners, and the ESA process was professional and smooth.
We were initially nervous about being farther from Lancaster City, but the peace and serenity here are unmatched, and it’s only a gorgeous 20-minute drive into the city. It’s also an easy 20–30 minutes to Hershey, York, or Palmyra, and my commute to Harrisburg along River Road is so much better than sitting in traffic on 283. The community is safe, quiet, and full of kind neighbors, and our 2 bed/2 bath Stanford layout is incredibly spacious with sunrise and sunset views every day. Even though it’s near Route 441, it’s much quieter than the city—at night it’s completely still.
The amenities are a hidden gem. The saltwater pool is almost always empty (I often had it to myself if not shared with a few other adults), and the grills, gym, and business center are always spotless. Honestly, the website doesn’t do this place justice; everything is much nicer in person. After visiting, my family is even considering moving here!
Maintenance is equally impressive; my requests have been handled quickly and kindly, and the entire property is beautifully maintained. The monthly newsletters and events add to the sense of community.
We were hesitant to write this review because of bad experiences with landlords in the past, so after waiting for a shoe to drop for two months here, I can say living at the Villas of Castleton is everything we hoped for and more. The leasing process was smooth, rent payments are simple, and the staff—especially Raychelle—truly care. We’re so happy here and plan to stay for a long time. We’ll keep this updated if for some reason our opinion changes but I kinda don’t see...
Read moreI lived here for 13 months and it was 13 months too long. I had nothing but issues with parking, threatening letters on my car, people messing with my car, and TONS of scrapes, dings and dents from others hitting my car or from the roads being unfinished and too low. When I went to management about the situation, I was offered a garage in a different building that I lived and and would be charged $100 a month for said garage. I suggested painting lines to help with space and parking situation, I was told roads would not be touched until the last house lot was sold in Castleton. Not sure why the houses had anything to do with the apartments, but again nothing was resolved just another excuse. This whole parking situation is upsetting especially because before moving in and signing a lease my roommate and I specifically asked management about parking and they said there was never an issue, but after living there for a month and talking to neighbors, they said they had complained to management numerous times as well and it’s always been bad. Another major issue I had with this place was the fact the walls are so thin, you can hear through them and can hear when someone has a bathroom fan on or even sneezes! Personally, I work fluctuating hours and sleep when I can, so the noise issue was a big issue for me, so I had to use numerous fans to help with noise otherwise I would have never been able to sleep. Though the parking situation was and is awful, the facilities like the pool was a nice feature, and the management was helpful for things other than the parking situation. And the maintenance crew was always timely, polite and did an awesome job when there was an issue or giving you ample notice for entering your apartment for routine maintenance like changing air filters. All in all, this place is not awful because of its people working there, but the rules and policies they have are ridiculous. BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING, READ THE LEASE AND ASK TO SEE THE MOVEOUT GUIDE, you’ll barely get your security deposit back due to them nickeling and diming you for cleaners ( though you’re to clean yourself) and for carpet cleaners of their choice. Final note, they fluctuate the price of their apartments for certain people, so you could have the exact same apartment as someone else but they could pay $100-$400 less or more than you depending on what Eleventen feels like charging, so before you accept the price of the apartment you...
Read morePoor staff. Neighbors party every single night and management does nothing despite multiple tenant complaints. Forget about sleep. Landscaping once every 4 months (the grass is gonna grow into an mini jungle. Especially the building 500 area). Management likes to tow people for unspecified reasons. They got me once. Ends up I was too close to a handicap sign despite being a full car length away. Why not call me to move?? Then they threatened to tow me again on a monday morning when there was road work being done on my st, despite no email notice or sign posted by the pavers. No one knew work was being done there. At least they had the courtesy to call this time, but still being threatened is EXTRMELY unprofessional. Just ask me to move my car. No need to say "we're going to have your car towed shortly if you dont move it". Like why is that attitude necessary? Even my neighbors who got called too were taken back by it. How were we supposed to know?
The waitlist for a garage is long. 6 months and not a single one anywhere, with very limited parking. Your mailbox is randomly assigned so you will need to go to a different building to check your mail. Makes no sense. Not once in 6 months have any housekeeping or janitorial staff cleaned the property. Dried garbage and trash on the steps etc. Is still there from before I even moved in.
Apartment layout inside is nice. Large living rooms. Sadly paper thin walls and since this is appears to be a college student neighborhood those parties every single night will = no sleep, and management couldn't care.
All in all, if you're a young person looking to party it up and don't care about your surroundings or what people think this is perfect. Cheap prices, and a bar in the neighborhood too. If you're an adult with an actual career or family, trying to find somewhere decent and clean to live you'll want to go elsewhere.
Shame, this neighborhood has huge potential with the shops located within it and nice apartment layouts. Unfortunately the staff just refuse to treat their tenants with respect, or enforce their policies as the lease states there's an expectation of peace and quiet around 11pm or so. Get these kids who party every night out of here if they don't abide by the lease. You're losing customers because of them. 1 tenant left cause of them already, and another one is leaving after me also because of the noise. Hope it was worth losing 3...
