This is one of the better co-ops and I had just recommend it yesterday as a group of us were heading to the Delaware antiques show. Today I met up with a dealer from the show to pick up the schrank I bought yesterday and figured I'd stop by Paradise Village Antiques II.
Today's experience was not pleasant.
I looked around for awhile and asked the woman at the counter if she could open a case for me when she could get to it. While waiting, I looked around some more and had my eye on a few other items. When she came and opened the case, she was quite hurried and handed me the item I wanted to see and then proceeded to close the case. I handed her the item back, as it was not what I had hoped. She seemed huffy, and when I asked about another item, she informed me that she needed to go back to the front because she, "was about to sell an $1100 piece." And obviously she had no time for someone looking at a group of items priced at only $65 a piece.
It's a good thing that it was just the other customer and me as I have no idea how she could handle it if there were more.
It's too bad that both shops are listed as one. The shop next door was staffed by a much more personable lady. She took my boy and introduced her dog to him. She continued to engage him in conversation and even let him give some treats to her dog. She asked me what all I was interested in and recommend a small shop up the road. She even called ahead make sure that they were open.
I would give her and that shop 5 stars.
Too bad for the sellers in shop 2, as I decided not to buy out of principle. They lost out on a sale of six items...
Read moreThe MOST expensive Antique store in Lancaster County. They have tons of vintage wooden chests and cupboards. The prices are absolutely ridiculous when compared to other area shops. The staff is friendly enough and respect ls your space! They have tons of pewter and pottery. Few handmade crafts thrown in for good measure and filler. NoT a shop I'll visit again.
Response to Owner reply: Fair enough, I live close so I'll swing by and make sure Goggle doesn't lump both shops together. I do feel as my review was fair to both establishments. Pix were more from the one to the left (looking at property) as they had much more interesting and better tags. I appreciate that store left's dealers had more attention to detail and time spent of displaying their goods. Both shops are super over priced! If travelers havent seen what Columbia offers they are missing GREAT deals on the classic "antique". Your shops definitely hold the key on pewter goods hands down, hence the 4⭐ . Google lists this property as one in the same so I'll fix that this weekend and make sure I stop in to list the proper...
Read moreThis is the real White Horse Antiques (please do not get confused with the Shoppes at White Horse Mill this is not the same establishment). The owners Chris and Deb Doyle are so friendly and so kind and welcoming. Chris is good to talk about antiques, help with a sale, share a cup of coffee and chat. They are extremely knowledgeable and have great dealers. We shop there all the time, and when they moved from Gap to Paradise we followed them. Prices are reasonable for what the value of the item is and that will range as well as the diversity of items. Definitely the BEST antique shop in Lancaster County - well worth a visit even if its the only thing you do that day. Spend the day as there is another shop in front called Paradise Antiques worth stopping in as well. Thank you Chris and Deb for making our antiquing experience...
