After a second poor experience in this store, I will not be returning nor will I recommend/refer to any friends or family. My husband, daughter, and I stopped in during the summer of 2020 because it looked like a cute shop. Not only were we followed around the store by who I presume were the owners, my husband was almost chastised for inquiring about a restroom.
This year we decided to give it another chance because once again, itâs a cute shop with cute items. I stopped to look at some of the beard products for my husband. I picked up a tin of beard balm, opened the UNSEALED lid to smell, and put it back. An older gentleman (the ownerâs husband per a young female employee) walked up to me out of nowhere and very condescendingly asked if I just broke the seal on the product and shook his head in disgust at me. I immediately went to find my husband and daughter to let them know we would be leaving. As I walked to the back of the store, the gentleman was speaking with a young female employee about me and what I had evidently just done to the product. Iâm a grown woman who was raised with respect. Never would I ever pick up a product and intentionally damage it in any way just so I could smell it.
I do not appreciate being treated this way as a customer and based on this placeâs Google reviews, a lot of other people donât appreciate it either. As a business owner, kindness goes a long way. Being rude, arrogant, and unpleasant is so off-putting and has just lost mine and countless friends/family...
Read moreEnjoy the store very much, but, I do not enjoy being followed around like I am a 10 yr. old expecting to cause damage or steal. The drive to East Tawas is long, and I make specific trips just to shop at this location. I like to look at everything, without interruption. I do not need someone to "hold" my items for me at "the counter." I do not enjoy snide looks or remarks because I am taking to long to shop. I do not see any reason for, 4 employees to hover over me as if I am the only person they've seen all winter. Because I know I am not. I also realize you must make your money during peak season, but, your prices are over the top, and the items are not something so special they can't be found else where in "common" businesses. Plans are to give this business another chance, and when I am followed, constant asking to hold my items, constant bs chatter, I will politely put all of my items on the counter and tell you to have a nice day. I have been to your store many times, and spent much money. Sometimes you offer a punch on a card, sometimes you do not. I have never been there, ever, and spent less than $40-$100. For over priced items, because as a past business owner myself of 30+ yrs. I like to shop with independent Small Businesses. I pride myself in promoting and shopping at as many...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stopped in today while on our way to the Benjamin Franklin store since we didn't have our infant for a few hours. Upon entering it's s super cute store, overpriced but cute. As we we're walking around a older woman with short hair, approached us and asked if we needed any help. We told her no and that we had just moved to the area and we just wanted to look around.. after the conversation the woman followed us throughout the store making my partner and I extremely uncomfortable and making it pretty clear she was watching us, blocking areas and "fixing the shelves" but really was just hovering. Even if I wanted to buy something the way this woman treated my partner and I we decided we won't go to spend a dime and won't...
