We came here on 07/10/21 roughly 30 minutes before closing time. Place was packed with people coming and going (usually a good sign for a restaurant.) Within a few minutes a table was prepped and ready for us and we were seated. Our waitress (who I believe was named Elsie) was very friendly. We order drinks and food. salsa and chips are brought to the table shortly after we are seated, they come in a styrofoam carton with a lid. We eat them all in a very short period. Food arrives along with more chips and salsa this time in a glass jar. We finish our waters and Elsie brings us more. My friend notices some sea monkeys in his new water (tan matter on the bottom of the glass and some semi transparent stuff floating beneath the ice.) We flag down Elsie and ask for a new water. She informs us that because they have been so busy that day they have run out if ice and have been taking ice from other guests drinks after they leave. This disgusts us. We watch Elsie rinse out his glass and refill it. None of us want to touch our waters from this point on. As we are finishing our meal my other friend starts going at the salsa again. He pulls out a hair. We flag Elsie again and she takes the salsa away and goes to speak to someone who looks like a manager. They dissapeared for a few minutes and then someone who introduced herself as the owner came to our table with Elsie and two other people. She essentially called us all liars and assured us that there couldn't possibly of been anything in our waters or the salsa. And when she asked for evidence we couldn't provide it as we had already had the water replaced and they took the salsa with them. At this point we had more or less finished our food. The owner leaves after calling us liars again. Elsie brings us the tab and she was able to get us 10% off. We pay and leave.
If the owner wants to dispute anything I have said there was a camera directly above us that would of seen everything. I believe there were other cameras as well but unsure if they would of seen it. Our seat was located directly in front of the fireplace. Across from the bar.
For the record I have been here several times prior and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened. Aside from this the food and...
Read moreWent there Sunday night! Was very busy! I get it Labor Day weekend but this place ruined our night. Said there was a 30 minute wait ok I get it no problem. We waited 57 minutes. Got to our table and sat there for 15 minutes before someone came to wait on us. There was a couple behind us that came after us and they got waited on right away ( later I found out she must of worked there because she knew the waiters and went with them to sing happy birthday in Spanish for some one) Anyway when the waiter came for our drinks we said; we want to order now! So he took our order. The place was emptying out! We waited and waited the table that came behind us got there food! We waited it was almost 45 minutes. I asked the waiter what was going on? He said they were really busy! I asked him how come the table behind us are done eating and we are still waiting? He got a manager he assured us food was being cooked now apologized and said he’d buy our drinks( margarita and a Diet Coke) we waited then it got to be 20 minutes and I said screw this! I was going to the bar pay for our margarita and a Diet Coke and leave! No one would wait on me? Then our food came out so I we sat back down and was going to eat our dinner! It was edible that’s it! Fajitas were tougher then heck wife enchiladas were warm not hot! Basically we got there at 7:45 pm and we left at 10:10 pm. Did not enjoy food and it was very frustrating!!! They close at 9:30pm. My Sunday night was wasted for frustrating for food that was subpar!!! Put a damper on a good day!!!! I will never go back there!!!! I know it was busy Labor Day weekend but it was a little ridiculous!!! The place was emptying out. No reason...
Read moreWe love the location in Alpena. Every time my parents visit they want to go there. This time we were excited to try Tawas, since it’s a bit closer.
First impressions are everything folks! When you walk in the door and your not even greeted. They stare at you like you are an ICE agent coming in full gear. Finally someone came over and asked how many, then seated us.
The place is very cool looking and festive, like Alpena.
Once our grumpy waiter finally arrived and asked for our drink order, me proceeds to walk away in mid sentence as my mom was placing her drink order.
A few minutes later he slaps down the chips and salsa on the table, handed out our drink orders...which my moms was wrong btw.
My mom was in mid sentence again asking for hot salsa when he turns and walk away.
When Seniõr no-tip came back to take our order he did bring the salsa. So obviously he can hear, is just rude.
The food came and looked great. Looks are deceiving. My burrito was like warm. My dad ordered beef tacos and got chicken. My mom tried asking for more napkins, but you guessed it, he walked away while in mid sentence. We never saw the Napkins.
The a group of customers came in, the manager rearranged the chairs blocking my parents in completely so they couldn’t get out without asking the gentleman to move. Not to mention they put too many chairs around that it was actually blocking the rear exit. Seems like a fire hazard to me.
This was a terrible experience and we will never go there again. We will continue to go to Alpena however. That location is the complete opposite of Tawas.
They should be ashamed to have this...
