POC Beware! I am a tea lover and was recommended to go to Teaoli as they have a wide selection of specialty loose leaf teas. I went in on 7/12/25, the shop and restaurant was bustling with people young and old. They do in fact have a wide selection of tea and I was told by two older white patrons, they were in the store at the same time as me, that you can ask to sample whichever tea you are interested in. When I politely asked the elder worker, who seemed to be manning the oil and tea section, if I would be able to sample some teas, she rudely barked āNo! We offer over a 100 teas and you cannot sample them all.ā. I was taken aback by her attitude and her response as I didnāt ask to sample every tea. Once I told her that I was specifically interested in the green teas, she huffed and pointed out that they had one hot green tea (a Pear tea) that was available to try and a cold tea I could also try (I believe a peach tea). Notice how she didnāt try to give me the time of day until I indicated that I was a paying customer. When I told her that I would be interested in trying them, she lead me over to the pear tea and curtly told me to try it and then gestured in the direction of the cold tea and promptly walked off. This entire interaction was very off-putting as I had been nothing but kind and had been met with attitude and dismissal. This older white women couldnāt get away from me fast enough, and when I looked around I realized why. I am a young Asian woman in a shop full of white people. There were no other POC to be seen. I watched this rude worker for a bit to see if maybe she was having a bad day, but no, she was kind and friendly to the other white customers. She asked them if they needed help and about their weekend plans. I do not live my everyday thinking that Iām going to be treated differently because I am Asian. I do not treat people differently because of their appearance. I had worked in customer service for over 5 years, and it is not hard to be kind and respectful to people. I believe that worker displayed disgusting behavior and I caution any POC who decide to shop at this store. While the younger staff was kind (also all white, unless theyāre hiding POC staff in the back), the older woman who oversaw the oils and teas is rude and disrespectful. The blatant racism is honestly shocking for an establishment that started from a place of āgathering faith, family, and friendsā. Behavior like this is unbecoming, and I will not be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely delightful and insightful owner. The boyfriend and I stopped by to see what this place is about. My goodness we were not prepared! We walk in and to the left is a table filled with olive oil samples. Olive. Oil. I've been living a lie. The owner happened to be there and she excitedly walked myself (who doesn't cook) and my boyfriend (who does cook and was very excited) through more than a few of their samples. She even had bread for us to dip with.
"Just the olive oil?" Naw, fam. This place also has vinaigrette. You know those fancy pants Italian places where you drag your bread through the oil mixture on a plate? Those are a lie, this stuff is legit. What's also legit is their tea selection and the BED AND BREAKFAST IN THE BACK. WHAT?! Amazing. Btw, this place has butter olive oil to drizzle onto pop corn. A sample of that was also on hand.
Have a question? The owner can answer it. This is her passion and she knows all. Not just olive oils, teas. Tea here, tea there, tea tea tea. I bought a bag of Strawberry Matcha tea and with her instructions was able to brew it like a pro at home. This wasn't tea in a bag. I had to actually measure out the tea and steep it myself. Wild.
We will be going back on Saturday to check out their brunch. Didn't have the time today but we look...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDO NOT GO IF YOU ARE YOUNGER THAN 40 I (a mid 20s student and repeat customer) went in with my fiancee and roommate both of whom are my age. The lady who I assume to be a manager kept following us and close to us the entire time while taking a sharp tone with us and getting cross with us when we attempted to sample one of the oil containers that we thought was just like the others but was empty and had no sign on it marking it as such. This seems to be a repeating problem for her as she seems to only hone in on people below the age of 40 and follow them as if they would steal and break things the second she turns her back, going so far as to glare at us despite us buying and being respectful every time we go in. I understand working retail and being suspicious of teenagers coming in to cause trouble (my work is right next to a middle school) but we are very respectful and quiet older college students, acting that way alienates customers and if there was a single decent tea store nearby, I would take my business to them in a heartbeat after the repeated treatment we have received. As it stands I will be searching for other stores to buy my tea at either in OKC or closer by and warning my college friends not...
