BUYER BEWARE OF Texas Boombox – DISHONEST PRICING & POOR WORKMANSHIP **Extremely Disappointing Experience – Stay Away from Texas Boombox!** I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Texas Boombox, and I feel compelled to share it to warn others. I was initially quoted **$180** by Charlie to replace my car stereo and install new speakers and an amplifier. I made it clear from the start that my car already had an aftermarket system (subwoofers, headrest TV monitors, amp, and epicenter), so there should have been no surprises. When I arrived at 11 a.m., Charlie greeted me and assured me that they would call once the job was done. However, things quickly took a strange turn when another employee, Saul, aggressively questioned the price and demanded to know who authorized the install. Charlie awkwardly replied that **he (Saul) had authorized** it, and insisted the original quote should be honored. Saul stormed off, visibly upset, and Charlie apologized for the awkwardness, telling me to go home and wait for a call. At **3 p.m.**, I received a call asking for approval to install a **$15 speaker bracket**, which I approved, thinking this would be the only price change. But then, at **5:30 p.m.**, Saul called in a rude tone, telling me my car was "almost ready" and that I needed to hurry because the shop was about to close. When I arrived (at about 5:50 p.m.), I saw they were still working on my car, but the real shock came when I went to pay. The final bill was a staggering **$531** more than double the original quote! Saul dismissed my objections, claiming the original price was too low and refusing to honor it. He then presented me with a different invoice than the one I had been given and charged me for unnecessary items I never approved, including a bypass, new cables, and **10 hours of labor** (even though the shop is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. — you do the math). To top it off, there was also an "extra charge" for an "oversized" radio, which had never been mentioned. I asked WHY I hadn’t been called to approve these additional charges, and Saul rudely insisted they were "necessary" and that I had to pay immediately because they were closing. When I requested to see my car before paying, he refused to hand me the keys. After some back and forth, he finally relented, and what I saw was infuriating: - **Cracked panels** – My center clock dash panel and master window switch panel were damaged. - **Non-functional features** – The phone function on the new stereo didn’t work, the **reverse camera and headrest monitors** were no longer working, and they left the microphone harness on the floor instead of installing it. - **A filthy interior** – My car was returned to me a mess. Charlie, the person who originally quoted me, was nowhere to be found, and Saul simply dismissed my concerns, claiming that all the employees had gone home. I was left with a **damaged car**, missing functionality, and a **ridiculous bill** for work I didn’t approve. I left the shop with the understanding that I would get a call from the owner to try and resolve the issue. The only call I received was from Charlie the next day. He was very embarrassed and apologized profusely when I told him about the damage and non-functioning features and sent him pictures. However, it has now been almost a week, and I’m still waiting for a call from the owner or anyone at the shop to address the situation. Texas Boombox is DISHONEST, UNPROFESSIONAL, and COMPLETELY UNETHICAL. If you value your time, money, and car, STAY FAR AWAY!

I ordered 2 subwoofer boxes from them and spent around $800 total. The box build seemed like high quality, except when it came to installing them everything was wrong. The boxes were made completely wrong and were unusable. They where not the right size, port hole was in the wrong location, they didn’t fit where they where supposed to to, and the subwoofer mounting hole was too small. I sent them the diagrams and the exact specs of the subwoofers. I supplied them with the exact documents from the subwoofer manufacturer. As well as a drop box folder with photos of the dimensions needed. I told them and sent them exactly what our plans were so they knew what we needed done. They were also supposed to be waterproof but are not. When it came for asking for a new boxes they were a pain to work with. We could never get a refund or new boxes out to us with the correct dimensions and it’s been over 4 months now. We have gone over several phone calls and a very lengthy and extensive email thread. However they still haven’t made the situation right. They keep gaslighting us and stonewalling us even though we sent them the exact specs, photos, diagrams, manufactures installation manual, and everything from the beginning.

I really wanted to write a positive review but it was a bad experience I show up the owner was really nice and courteous I was going to get a basic stereo install we agree on a price he tells me it would be an hour and a half and I see as hands the tech the stereo three hours later they finally finish my install and he tells me that the tech installed the wrong stereo in my vehicle and he would have to charge me 40 dollars more for the upgrade which to be honest is a low quality stereo but I just needed to leave so I paid and the tech hands me my keys as I get into my car I realize my panel was broken and they just tried to half ass glue it back and the other panels are just out of place as well and I told the owner and he told me that he was aware that the tech notified him and they didn’t tell me anything but they agreed to order a new panel and they told me they would follow up with me it’s been three weeks and I haven’t heard them

BUYER BEWARE OF Texas Boombox – DISHONEST PRICING & POOR WORKMANSHIP

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Stay Away from Texas Boombox!

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Texas Boombox, and I feel compelled to share it to warn others.

I was initially quoted $180 by Charlie to replace my car stereo and install new speakers and an amplifier. I made it clear from the start that my car already had an aftermarket system (subwoofers, headrest TV monitors, amp, and epicenter), so there should have been no surprises.

I was looking for a part that Best Buy did not have in stock, but I needed to finish an installation and came across this place. Nathan quickly helped me find the required part, a huge relief. I had already gone to 4 shops around town looking for a specific mount. Not only was the customer service 10/10, but the pricing was the best for what I needed. I came for one service and found myself getting a great deal for others. The staff was competent, kind, and helpful, and I recommend going and checking it out. The amount of stuff they have on hand alone is worth it.

Update: The first experience was perfect. So I highly recommend this place to my family. We went together, which was a completely different experience from the first visit. I left frustrated and disappointed as I sincerely loved my first experience and wanted to continue supporting a local business. I felt terrible for recommending this place over others. Going forward, I guess the customer service you will receive varies from excellent to awful, and due to this, I have to change my review and recommendation of this place. Especially considering that I was given a price but then charged double once it was too late to cancel, and the car had been at the shop from 11ish in the morning until 4ish in the afternoon for what is seen on the dash cam video as an estimated 10 minutes of labor (plugging in a fuse for a dash cam).

I sincerely wish the best for the business because the first impression was perfect, but I am debating if I want to continue receiving services here.

Update 2: Someone I referred here for business got an unsettling phone call that the car may have GPS/Apple Airtag tracking, which may have been placed while at the store. I canceled my trip and drove right back, only to find it was conjecture after I had already spent a couple of hours inspecting the vehicle. Not only was that experience stressful, but it also wasted the day for us. While I appreciate that I was contacted again around 6 pm and reassured that it was all baseless rumors and not an actual incident, this final experience caused me to no longer feel comfortable recommending this place or returning.

I sincerely wish the best for this business. My first encounter remains a 5-star experience, but every meeting after that was a solemn 1-star experience. The apologies I received from their social media handle felt sincere, and they are working on improving. I will give them credit for being honest and attempting to make amends. My review stands as is based on my personal experience. To any new customers, I hope you get the 5-star experience this store...

This place really bucks. I would advise everyone to stir clear if this establishment as they're only about making money from the customer, instead of offering quality business and service for the visitors of the establishment. I brought my 87 Cadillac brougham in and they completely damaged my car, blaming the age of my vehicle, instead of their lack of care. The manager, Saul, is a con artist and will lie to your face instead of dealing straight and keeping his word. They damaged my car, then played the blame game as to why my car was damaged. There are plenty of businesses that offer better prices and more proficient customer service. I would highly advise looking elsewhere to do business as this spot is not only out of the way, but as shady as it gets. They damaged my vehicle and said it was unavoidable due to it being an 87. The employees plucked the universal gaskets off of my car, then the owner Juan, lied saying he would replace them, only to back out once he found out how much the damage would cost. I advise everyone to stir clear of this janky establishment. Too many other shops that care and offer overall quality service then to be bothered with this lying, unprofessional bad news company. They damaged my car and refused reimbursement after saying they'd take care of me. I highly advise going anywhere but this spot. They're relying on past works to carry them, but they're actually overpriced and undeserving...
