Final update because I reported this incident to ADA. In essence what your establishment did was segraget me wish is unlawful. Maybe you should do more research on the law. My service animal would not of changed the nature of your business so denial of access to seating in a bar that had very few customers was wrong.
Q: What must I do when an individual with a service animal comes to my business?
A: The service animal must be permitted to accompany the individual with a disability to all areas of the facility where customers are normally allowed to go. An individual with a service animal may not be segregated from other customers
Q: My county health department has told me that only a guide dog has to be admitted. If I follow those regulations, am I violating the ADA?
A: Yes, if you refuse to admit any other type of service animal on the basis of local health department regulations or other state or local laws. The ADA provides greater protection for individuals with disabilities and so it takes priority over the local or state laws or regulations.
Q: Can I exclude an animal that doesn't really seem dangerous but is disruptive to my business?
A: There may be a few circumstances when a public accommodation is not required to accommodate a service animal--that is, when doing so would result in a fundamental alteration to the nature of the business. Generally, this is not likely to occur in restaurants, hotels, retail stores, theaters, concert halls, and sports facilities. But when it does, for example, when a dog barks during a movie, the animal can be excluded.
Retired Vertan denied access to the seating at the bar with service animal. Beyond disrespect and lack of knowledge of federal law.
Mr business owner it sadness me that I have to educate you how this federal law works. I was denied access by not being able to sit at the bar. I will post the actual law for you.
Q: What are the laws that apply to my business?
A: Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), privately owned businesses that serve the public, such as restaurants, hotels, retail stores, taxicabs, theaters, concert halls, and sports facilities, are prohibited from discriminating against individuals with disabilities. The ADA requires these businesses to allow people with disabilities to bring their service animals onto business premises in whatever areas customers are generally allowed.
As you can see anywhere a human can go my service animal can go. I was told I was not allowed to sit at the bar which is the definition of denial of access. Your bar rules do not Trump...
Read moreI would have given it five stars but the service really sucked. Here's my review... I walk in and sat at the bar because there really isn't enough seating available to be honest. I sat at the bar for at least 10 minutes before I was greeted and asked what I'll have to drink. It took a little bit to get my drink which was just a coke. I finally ordered what I went to try since everyone keeps saying they're the best, which was the rolled tacos and queso fries. It did take what seemed like another 10 minutes to get my food and still hadn't gotten a refill... Here's where everything took a turn for the best lol... My food came and already I was pleased! It looked very good and yummy! As soon as I took a bite of my first rolled taco in red sauce, I was hooked. Then I took a queso fry and I couldn't stop eating! Seriously, I can't believe the rolled tacos were actually better than the original El Paso joint that everyone knows... They taste the way "that" place use to taste! From the sauce to the old great tasting government cheese. They were extremely good. And the fries were actually perfect!!! Crispy on the outside and soft in the inside smothered in that chile con queso sauce! Took me back to high school cheese fries at the Hard Work Cafe! Great job on the food but definitely need to hire more staff! One bartender/waitress is not enough to serve the whole place. Will definitely go back for the food, hopefully the...
