Called to pay the power bill & when I explained to the man that I was trying to pay my bill but was having issues through the automated system bc it wanted me to pay the entire bill. The mam was rude & then proceeded to send me to another answering machine which hangs up on you, when I was told he would " try to contact me with a cashier" while being sent to this answering machine my power was disconnected ( coneviently right after speaking to this rude man that purposely me to the answering machine. Which means he made sure I would have to pay the reconnect fee! When I called back to ask for help, I told the lady that answered what happened & that he was rude & asked for my fee to be waived. Her response was that he wasn't rude & they couldn't waive my fee!? 1st of all was she on the phone? how are you going to tell me he wasn't rude? How can you even respond that way? I was the one on the other end of the phone being spoken to that way & HE WAS RUDE! I work in customerservice, i have for years & I would never speak to customersthe way he spoke to me! The responseshould have bern an apology& what can we do to make it right instead of acting like you was a 3rd party on the phone & heard the convo or just took her co workers word that he wasnt rude wither way this was not handledprofessionallyAT ALL! 2ND I shouldn't have had to ask for my fee to be waived bc I was not at fault & was trying to pay my bill. Bc of the neglect of the man answering the phone is the reason i had a reconnect fee in addition never requested for my fee to be waived in the past so I know it is & should have been an option. The reconnectfee are for those not trying to pay there bill but you punish those that are actively trying & do it as a F U!? Very disappointed in customer service this is not how you treat people trying to take care of there power bill. What if someone treated your mother that way how would you feel? Read moreI have always hated Elizabethton Electric but I think they have gotten new people who are actually helpful..That's been my experience. My name is Lori Scott and I did a scathing review a couple of years ago. I had something happen a couple of weeks ago that changed my feelings..i have actually had a couple of nice interactions. I never even open my bills because the money to pay them is never available until I get the cut off notice so that's when I pay it. They suddenly stopped doing that and they call now, well ibdont answer calls with no identity, so they turned my power off .I had the money to pay it, I just hadnt gotten the notice. I was so upset, I went and added the 45.00 reconnect fee and called to pay it. The lady was very nice, which threw me off 😅 without anything else. Then she waived the fee. If you are a customer for Elizabethton Electric you know exactly what I mean! I've had a couple of nice interactions over the past couple of months. I use to dread having to interacting with them. None of them were nice and if you got disconnected they didn't care if it was their mistake, if you wanted it on you paid the reconnect. I was floored when she waived it but was just as blown away by how sweet and respectful she was! I went from 1 star to 4, not becauseof one interaction but because a couple of them. This company should look into hiring more customer service oriented people. And no I'm not someone that doesn't pay a bill or is late anytime I pay in the drive thru no one even speaks to me they just send a receipt and today in the midst of the global pandemic I come in the drive thru and have to hit the call button 3 times and said hello before I ever got a hateful voice saying "can i help you" I didnt bring my bill with me and it obviously has a sign up that you are suppose to come in to pay if you dont have your bill but i thought perhaps with the social distancing in place that someone would kindly assist me thru the drive thru no she just rudely exlaims the sign says you have to come in I just drove away since I would not be going in to pay a bill and risk getting sick or getting these old hags sick.
