Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. This place is very disturbing and has very little staff to help anyone. I watched several patience slumped over in wheel chairs in their rooms for at least two- 3 hours straight unattended. My grandma was sent to Holton for rehab a few weeks ago. She was way to weak after coming back from the hospital from having pneumonia along with stage 3 lung cancer. She was very sick and weak from treatment. they forced her to get out of bed and walk which ended up in her being dropped due to the lack of strength she had in her legs. She told them she was unable to use her legs and was to weak to walk and they didn't care to listen a nd pushed her to try. They then reported her to Medicare for REFUSING REHAB because she was unable to do it because she is weak and sick!! Not to mention I went to visit her with my 5 year old son (who was scared of what he was seeing) my grandma was un able to speak to me due to her being placed on a bed pan for (GOD KNOWS HOW LONG) when I walked in she was so backed up and not able to make a bowel movement for days! I flagged down staff to help her and they told me that she had to wait until later in the night for a laxative or suppository. When I came into her room she was crying in pain that her butt hurting from being left un attended on the pan for so long. LETS NOT FORGET her Oxygen tank had no water in it and she was in need of oxygen BADLY and she needed water in her O2 tank. We told staff and they acted as if they had no idea the O2 machine needed water to work! She was sent back to the hospital due to her OXEGEN LEVELS BEING UNSTABLE! We were told that she couldn't come back to Holton unless we paid to hold her room for almost 400.00 a day! She is now left with no option but going hours away from family to get the proper care because all they care about is money and not taking care of their patience. STAY AWAY FROM...
Throughout the last 14 years, I’ve gone to my fair shares of physical therapy clinics! With that being said, that’s kind of sad because I have never found a place that I wanted to stick with until I went to Holton Manor. I attended PT twice a week doing aquatic therapy. The entire staff is incredible. They are extremely friendly, very compassionate and thorough. But most of all they care!! Aquatic therapy is by far the most comfortable type of therapy with the least amount of pain with the quickest results.(This is my opinion )This is a private pool with your own therapist. It’s comfortably warm when you enter the room. You have your own personal bathroom with shower for changing and the water is very welcoming. They do have a ladder so you can go into the pool on your own, but they also have a lift chair that helps you go in and out of the water. Also they have a treadmill in the pool and underwater cameras focusing on your legs so you can watch yourself walk. This also helps the therapist guide you to what you need to improve on. When you’re in the water, the warmth is very comforting on your muscles. Doing the exercises are so easy. When you’re done with your therapy, you would think you would be uncomfortable from your workout, but you’re really not. Three months twice a week, and and I noticed muscle tone and definition which helped improve my standing And walking. Now I know everybody’s different.. but if I had to choose traditional therapy over aquatic therapy… Aquatic therapy is always going to be my first choice. Thank you Holton Manor for all you have done for me in the past and thank you for the warm welcome in...
Read moreI am a 81 year-old black resident that for the last 20months, I have been living in a white sea. And in that white sea, I have found true genuine friendship throughout the entire facility. The staff is compassionate and a very empathetic, phenomenal care. They are diligent in seeing what goes in you and what comes out of you. If you should gain any weight and they happen to mention it to you a little on the Stern side all you have to do is tell them “you should not have such good food “the Physical Therapy department is very empathetic, but they are always firmly encouraging while pushing. The Activity department is a lot of fun and the staff really gets to know you right away and they are always thinking of something else for you to do. From the laundry department when your white clothes are washed they are so white they sparkle which seemed to have a blue tinge. Right now I’m a very independent resident but I know when my time comes, that I need total care. I feel so confident that I would be well cared for. I am so blessed for that. and when the staff leave your side and they say, “I love you” that is truly a blessing and a uniqueness of this place .Anyone who comes here and all who comes here are well, taken care for and I saw them come in, unable to walk and barely talk, and I saw them leave walking out “ Holton, has a saying “you enter a strangers and leave...
