Great local small theater. They have really affordable and fair prices, both in tickets and their concessions.
I love that they do first run major movies, while still blending in local/regional indie movies and festival runs. It helps create community engagement and fosters a great local space for creators. The first runs are a good change of pace from having to go to national chains with national chain prices as well.
Not only are the prices fair, but the popcorn was really buttery and tasty, which they also sell "to-go" bags of, if you are in need of a fix for your evening at home.
My tips for new visitors: I urge you to buy your concessions here and not bring things in, concessions are where they make their income and their prices are fair.
The theater is kept clean and in good working mannner but does maintain the retro vibe/appeal of its history. Therefore the seats are in decent shape but are a little squeaky and worn in, please treat them with some care.
Also, if you go in winter months when it's below freezing outside, a hoodie may be a good option to have with you as the theater can be a little on the cooler side.
The ownership is very active on Facebook, so if you need up to date info, that's a good place to check.
I hope to continue to enjoy this theater for...
Read moreThe Englewood Cinema is my favorite movie theater. The only time I go to another theater, especially the big chains, is if The Englewood Cinema is not playing the movie I want to see. ALL movies are only $5 bucks, including first run, & the concessions are not only cheaper than anywhere else but they have a bigger selection than any other theater I've been to. Can't post this without mentioning the popcorn. It's the best popcorn I've ever had. Don't believe me, you can go get popcorn & other concessions as take out. Who else does that?
Also, I am an independent musician/artist & I do a concert series where I open for classic horror films called "Cross Media Theater." I've held the last two at The Englewood Cinema & I could not be happier doing my events there. They are as supportive of my creativity as any place could be & I'm looking forward to doing many more of my events there. The most recent event between photos & raffles, we raised over $700 dollars that was donated to suicide prevention.
If there's a movie you want to see, check The Englewood Cinema first & if it's playing there, GO. You will not be...
Read moreOverall, very nice. Though, it happens to be a bit crammed especially in the seats department. There are no cup holders, meaning we had to lay things on the ground to the side of us. Only one movie playing at a time, but honestly the ads being from the local community stores made it so funny and helped pass the time through what would usually be a boring 30 minute ad segment. Nice atmosphere, but does smell a little funky inside, but nothing unpleasant or gross. Would I go back again? Most likely. Tickets and snacks are fairly priced like as if you were buying them from a gas station or any other store, which, I wish more theatres did this. The ticket prices were $12 in total for me and my fiancée with being able to pick whatever seats we wanted with no restrictions. They had a great selection of drinks, along with their popcorn being the best I think I have ever had, with plenty of fairly priced sizes to choose from too....
