I absolutely love this store! They have all the things you need to go mining for rocks or fossils. If you haven't done that, you need to try it. It sounds silly to mine for rocks, but it's fun to see what you get! They also have tons of rocks on display that you can purchase. They have the rocks on display and each stone has an explanation where it comes from and what it is used for. Many of the rocks were used for healing, anxiety and even to protect you from harm. They also have stones that have been made into jewelry that you can buy. I have been to this store several times and each time I find something new. I feel that I can't describe in words HOW great this store is, even if your not into rocks. If you like rocks, you will love this store. Lastly, this is a great store for families with kids, but it's not a great place for little kids. There is a lot of breakable glass and rocks and as a parent, I don't think it's fun to have to chase after my kids, making sure they don't break anything. However, for an older child it's a great...

Don't get me wrong, they had a lot of fine rocks, gems, and minerals - from polished to roughs. I thought the prices were a little high (i.e., $32 for unpolished agate about 2-4 oz and I think it was $10-20 for a polished Petosky of very poor quality), but it is a tourist area after all. But when I read how certain minerals/rocks are going to affect my karma or aura ... just not my thing.
Now to me, where the value came in - was the "mining." If you haven't done this before, basically you buy a bag of sand with pre-placed rocks and fossils in it for $36. Then, you (and your child, presumably) go out back and use their sluice to sift the good stuff out of the sand. My daughter loved it, and we got a really nice hunk of amethyst in ours along with sharks teeth and some...
Read moreThis shop has an incredible stock! Their supply is greater than anything I've ever seen before! With all the options given, I guarantee you will find something that you like here. You can tell that everything there is of good quality (no glass "amethysts", genuine fossils). The staff was mostly friendly and knowledgable.
With that being said, their prices are incredibly costly. I came across a bucket of rose quartz (each chunk was about the size of my palm) that each rounded out to about $8. In every crystal shop I've gone to prior to this trip, I have been able to find a chunk twice as big for the same price (maybe it's just more abundant here in Michigan). Their spheres and pyramids are also pretty pricey.
I suggest being well-versed in stones or taking along someone who is if you visit this shop so you can know if you're...
