I had gotten a botched root color job at another salon and was trying to find somewhere with appointments open before my big graduate school ceremony. I booked with Michelle who was mentioned in reviews online for being a great all-around stylist. I made an appointment to get my roots touched up and a haircut.
Right after saying hello, Michelle zeroed in on my length and said "I want to chop this off, can I do that?". Put on the spot, I said I would be open to taking off length before she immediately grabbed her scissor, pulled my hair across my back, and cut off about 4 inches, excitedly throwing it over her shoulder, all within about 60 seconds of meeting her. Never once verified with me how much length - just "eyeballed" it. This was before even showing her a picture of what I wanted or beginning the consultation. I was shocked watching my hair that used to sit below the middle of my back lay right below shoulder length. During my haircut, which was a layered cut, naturally more length was taken off, and I ended up leaving with hair about 6 to 7 inches shorter than I came in with.
It immediately set the tone for me of what to expect. Michelle is a very talented stylist and clearly well-respected at the salon by the other stylists who went to her multiple times throughout my appointment for help, or to have her teach her something. She did a phenomenal job correcting the three different colors I unfortunately had going around my roots, but I left with hair that was significantly shorter than I wanted right before a big occasion that was going to be photographed to death. I was a bit shocked at the price I paid, too. ~$200 for a root touch up and a haircut. This was more than I paid at my old salon for a haircut with color blocking with bleach, dye, and toner. Although my hair looked much healthier, I left feeling self-conscious and have been upset looking in the mirror ever since. I'll unfortunately have hair I don't love in my photos celebrating my graduation forever now.
This salon seems nice, and I appreciate that they choose products that stay away from harsh chemicals, but they are way too comfortable doing whatever they want with someone in their seat. I felt that the consultation should have been longer, and some restraint taken with a brand new customer not only to a stylist, but to the salon. This was a very jarring change and first impression. I am not precious about my hair, but I did not come in for a drastic change before a huge occasion, nor was I ready to take off about 6-7 inches of hair today and go from long hair to shoulder-length hair.
I also feel obligated to mention that they give you $5 off your service if you leave a Google review. (I didn't take advantage of this as I don't like the concept of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs I haven't had my hair dyed in 2 years, I needed to find organic and ammonia free color. Wair came up first in my search and was on my way home from work! The stylist was fantastic, personable and talented, thank you Tamara! Finalizing my experience was sticker shock! After the girl charged my service at the New Client Fall Special, $250 a guy came and said my price rung up incorrectly! He gave a total of $498! This salon does not have prices posted anywhere in the salon or online! After my initial shock, this guy said he made another mistake and the price finalized at 378.08. my question is the reason for not mentioning and posting your prices so you can make them up at check out, due to commission pay for employees.
Thank you for your response. I have looked on your website as well as FB for pricing and couldn't find anything. If you were present at the time and you witnessed a problem at YOUR register why didn't you step in and resolve the situation? That would have been the adult thing that should've been done. I appreciate your virtue signaling about wasting paper and creating less trash, a simple board on the wall would suffice. I informed the person at the time I made the appointment that I was a new customer so I would get the appropriate discount. Once again, a situation that could have been resolved by you stepping in when there was a problem at YOUR register. I believe you are judging a book by it cover and you obviously don't understand the term of the millionaire next door. This is not about money as much customer service. If you don't want bad reviews take the review tab off YOUR website or up YOUR customer service game. Hide quoted text

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had come to this salon before and the hair dresser did an amazing job. I was super excited thinking I finally found someone who can handle my head of hair. I come back the second time and I ask for highlights and a trim. She proceeded to say letās also cover your grays and did not disclose the cost. Maybe Iām wrong for making an assumption that a few highlights and a touch up on my roots wouldnāt cost as much because the last time I had a full head of color. I wanted to keep my length and walked out with way more cut than I had wanted. The worse part is that the layers are not even and soo noticeable with how short they were, people asked who did a hack job on my hair. Mind you, before I left I couldnāt notice from the front and normally a hairdresser will hand you a mirror so you can see the back. She did not. She picked up my bag and my stuff that j came in with and was trying to get me out of her chair as fast as she could. Not only is my hair a wreck and I canāt wear it down until it grow back for someone else to fix, but I was charged $349!!!! The only thing I really loved was the color but my hair is awful and there is no fixing it because of how short the layer were chopped and unevenly. The fact that others noticed it and made awful comments on it before I noticed so I could have said something before leaving is...
