Distributor of poorly made products. No customer service.

Purchased a brass compass as a Christmas present from Quality Gold catalog from an approved QA vendor. Received package quickly, but was packaged like a Temu product, which is was better than their Wish quality compass. Having paid $50 for this item that serves one function, to show magnetic north, I would expect it to do that. It does not.

Upon closer inspection this poorly made product is full of manufactures' defects such as the pivot jewel being broken, the compass dial having a poor magnetic field and the dial being unbalanced. All of these issues cause the compass not to function.

I was advised to contact the QA to initiate an exchange, in hopes that this was a one-off issue. Upon calling I was asked for my account number, and I informed them that I didn't have one, and was promptly transferred to accounts receivable where I was told "we don't deal with customers" and was advised to ask the vendor for a refund.

I know in the future I will be asking gift shops and jewelry stores if the item was supplied by Quality Gold, and if so I will not purchase any items supplied by them. Their lack of quality assurance on such a simple item, and lack of customer support would give me concern on any future purchase especially if that purchase was of...

1st time I've ever reviewed a company and I wanted to do so due to the service I received. Received a very nice watch winder as a present a couple years ago - it was bought at Jared's but apparently originally through Quality Gold. I was outside of warranty so I tried to hire a shop locally to fix it. No one would touch it - I figured this original company would gouge me for pricing but I was very wrong. I got their return instructions on line, bought packing material and sent the winder figuring I'd get a huge estimate to repair it and decline and never see it again.

Instead, Mike Hickman, one of their service reps contacted me a few days later and told me to send $7 and they would take care of it. They honored a warranty that I admitted was expired and while they couldn't repair it, they sent me a similar watch winder of the same quality.

I was extremely impressed and in the future I will look for products I can purchase...

I don't know what I'd do without Quality Gold. 65% of my inventory is Quality Gold. From $5.00 to $X, great value for your dollar and a HUGE, and I mean HUGE "quality" product selection.
