Plato's Closet Fairless Hills — Local services in Falls Township

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!! Came here with full bin of brand new clothing. All bought within the past couple of months most with tags still on. I was moving and wanted to downsize my closet. I waited for about 15 minutes while employees chatted and acted annoyed when having to assist me. The store was almost empty and I was told they’d call me when to come back. I’ve been to multiple Plato’s and all usually checked my items within 15 minutes to a half hour unless really busy. I no longer lived in the area so coming back hours later was a huge inconvenience. I waited around in the area for a phone call but after three hours had passed I realized it was close to the time they close. I went back frustrated that no one bothered to give me a call back. While waiting there was one employee left working. She was chatting away with a customer that was obviously a close friend since they were talking about their weekend plans. I watched the employee on the spot take all of this girls items (probably about 10-15 items) that were extremely dated, ripped, and one was noticeably stained, and handed her money. They continued to stand there chatting as if I wasn’t even there. I politely asked if my items were finished yet and that I never received a phone call. The employee was EXTREMELY rude and gave me an attitude for interrupting her and her little friends gossiping conversation. Her response was a short “Yeah I’m not taking anything.” I have NEVER been to a Plato’s where they didn’t take at least one item. Especially since most of my items were brand new with tags quality designers. When I asked why they wouldn’t take any of my items the employee rolled her eyes and said “Because nothing you brought was good.” And handed me back my bin of clothes. Obviously I was livid. I wasted my entire day, with no phone call, and no real reason as to why she wouldn’t take even one item of mine. To add salt to the wound the extreme attitude on this employee was ridiculous. As I’m leaving the employee let’s out a sarcastic snicker and another eye roll while I could clearly hear her saying rude things about me to her customer friend. It was clear she simply didn’t want to do her job and check anything in my bin. Unless you are friends with the employees they won’t take any of your items. My suggestion is become buddy buddy with an employee before trying to sell here, that way they will take your stained, old, beat up clothing without waiting and without question. I use to LOVE Plato’s and was a religious shopper and seller here. But NEVER...

This review is based on interactions with the employees at this particular branch of Platos. To say that I am completely dissatisfied with their service would be an understatement. My review should hold quite a bit of weight seeing as I have been shopping at this branch regularly for the past 5 years. Many of the workers at this branch always seem to have negative attitudes every time I'm there and also seem to be very stuck up. Everything they do and say comes off as fake, rehearsed, and scripted. It never feels like they're actually being sincerely kind toward me during my shopping experiences. I must say, there are a small handful of polite, down to earth employees that work there- I wish I knew their names to give them credit so that everyone didn't get a bad reputation from this review, but unfortunately I don't know any of the names. I had a particularly frustrating experience today. I realize that Platos doesn't have a public bathroom, so I usually am understanding of this and go elsewhere. However, I am 7 months pregnant and was denied use of their bathroom today. One of the male employees said I could not use their bathroom. I have NEVER been denied of bathroom use anywhere over the past 7 months, because most people are DECENT enough to let a pregnant woman use the bathroom. The reasoning was that they have merchandise by their bathroom. Okay, I understand that because I've worked places with similar set ups and policies elsewhere. However there were 3 workers standing there and the store was not busy at all. I realize they have things to do, but I'm sure one of them could have spared 3 minutes to walk me to the bathroom and stand outside of the bathroom door to make sure I didn't take merchandise. I'm not being unreasonable. I understand exceptions cannot be made for everybody, but I am just beside myself that they said no considering I am pregnant. That's so indecent. It just adds to how they don't make customers feel like they're cared for. As for the actual merchandise, I've shopped there for 5 years because I like the selection and pricing. No complaints there. This 1 star review is really my reflection of the staffing. You guys want to get higher than a 2.5 star average rating? Try treating people like they're humans and stop obsessing...

If I could give zero stars I would. Don’t sell clothes here. I sold a large Kate Spade bag, 2 Steve Madden bags, and a small Nine West bag and I was shocked when they said they could give me $28. $28?! I was expecting something around that just for the Kate Spade bag alone. All were in mint condition. I know that obviously you do not get a ton of money for your items, but I certainly expected more than that for 4 great bags. I’ve sold things there before and had good experiences with the money I got, but this time I will never sell there again. I went back a few days later to see what they were selling my items for and the KS bag was being sold for $45, the Steve Madden bags for $17 and $16, and the Nine West bag for $9. That’s a total of $87 that they are getting for my items only $28 of which I got. While I was waiting for them to check my clothes I saw that the girl checking my items liked them, but when she showed them to that evil red-headed woman she sneered at them. Keep in mind the one checking them is the one that Plato’s closet claims to be their audience while the red head is older. I also saw that they were selling other designer bags for around $60, so why my very large KS bag in great condition is $45 is beyond me. At that rate, they’re robbing themselves and me as well. I am appalled by the value that Plato’s Closet puts on those that give them stock. Absolutely terrible. I would love to talk to a manager there and hear why I got so little for my items. Needless to say, do NOT sell items here, and do NOT go in here as there is a bit of an icky feeling. Just stay...
