=== EDIT - 7/29/25 Conversation === Within a few hours of posting, I received a phone call from Clayton. Our conversation was honest, constructive, and very much appreciated. Clayton took the time to explain the situation from his perspective and expressed a genuine desire to make things right.
Following our discussion and coming to an agreement, Clayton mentioned that I should expect to hear from the Service Manager. This would give me the opportunity to further explain what happened beyond the photos I provided, and to better understand their inspection process. Based on everything discussed, it’s clear that the issue should have been identified and addressed earlier.
I truly appreciate Clayton’s transparency and willingness to engage in a productive conversation.
I had a great buying and closing experience at Windish RV. The representative I worked with was excellent—knowledgeable, helpful, and never pushy. The entire closing process was smooth and easy, with no pressure for add-ons. However, that’s where the good experience ended.
Windish RV advertises that they perform a thorough pre-delivery inspection and include a 12-volt battery with every trailer purchase. Unfortunately, my experience tells a different story. Within the week of purchasing the trailer, I was transporting the trailer home from storage to start to enjoy the trailer however, two shackle bolts completely sheared through the shackles during the drive home causing the leaf spring suspension to drop and rest along the frame—a serious safety hazard. After calling around, I found that Windish in Lakewood had the correct parts in stock. I purchased 8 replacement shackles and bolts and replaced all of them myself. Upon inspection, I found that the remaining shackles were also close to failing. It was clear this issue should have been caught during any kind of proper inspection. Sending a trailer out in this condition is not only unacceptable—it’s dangerous.
Secondly, I checked the hub grease levels and found they were nearly dry, another indication that no real inspection was performed before delivery. Another dangerous item that was missed.
Third, Windish advertises a free battery with purchase, but during the walkthrough, I was told they don't replace the battery unless it's below 80% life. Yet the batteries I received consistently reads just above 10 volts—not the 12 volts expected from a healthy battery. Even after charging for over 24 hours. This is not indicative of 80% capacity—it’s a failing battery that should have been replaced.
I initially reached out to my sales representative to address these concerns privately. I was told the matter would be escalated to a manager. After a few weeks with no response, I followed up and was told I’d hear something the following Monday. As expected, that day came and went with no further communication. If you’re considering buying from Windish RV, I would still recommend them for the sales process—it was genuinely positive. But when it comes to their pre-delivery inspection and follow-up support, I would advise extreme caution. Key safety components were clearly overlooked, and attempts to raise these concerns have been met with silence. Don’t trust the inspection—verify everything yourself before hitting the road.
Personally, I cannot trust the Windish Inspection when it comes to...
Read moreThis is a long review, and I am not one to give credit where it is not completely deserving. But I just had to write a review about my experience at Windish RV in Lakewood. I have nothing but the best to say about Windish RV. I sold my home, and I decided to full-time RV for a while. I worked with Dan Conklin. He was patient, extremely honest, and not once did he pressure me. He knew I needed to find the right RV for what my lifestyle would be, and he and I spent hours reviewing, discussing and looking at the every option - all while putting him through the process of second-guessing and changing my mind 100 times. I am so pleased with what Dan showed me and discussed with me. There were many important things he had me think about in regards to all the particulars of RV life that would make the difference between regret or joy down (and on!) the road. Dan is one of those rare people you meet in life who truly cares about the person, long before the sale. He knows that fair and special attention and respect would benefit everyone. I consider Dan a friend after working with him. I purchased a Grand Design 303 RLS. I knew nothing about Grand Design or the different options. Thankfully, Dan educated me about the advantages of Grand Design and a fifth wheel vs a trailer, as he wanted me to feel safe and comfortable towing and living. He also helped me set up the RV for what my dreams were - to boondocks as much as I can. He set me up with solar, the right battery, the right hitch and all the things I would not have necessarily thought of that will be important for me on my journey. What a GREAT purchase I made, thanks to Dan! I could not be happier, and the adventures have begun! I believe Windish when they say they back their sales and help with any glitches after the sale. I have a few (to be expected) minor tweaks that I need them to make. Dan does not ignore you after the sale. He is there for his customers and extremely responsive to questions and/or concerns. I also want to give a shoutout to the entire team at Windish. I think they held my fifth wheel for at least 2 months without any pressure as I tried to find the perfect vehicle to pull my RV. They actually set me up with the right sales manager at Larry H. Miller Ford (conveniently right next door) to find the perfect truck. Eric in finance was very helpful as well as we discussed financing vs cash. Did you know you can write off the interest on a RV just like you can on a home mortgage? Eric also managed to get me approved with a very reasonable interest rate and manageable payment. All of the others in the entire company that I met were personable, welcoming and patient. I was with my two shelties every time I was there, and they received a lot of love and attention! This whole team feels like a second family. I know I sound like an ad, but you really can expect fair and special treatment, fair pricing, and the BEST selection of RV's I have seen ANYWHERE, and I looked from Colorado to Montana.

Read moreBegan our search for a new travel trailer on line, reading reviews, checking floor plans and doing as much research as possible prior to actually going to dealership. Finally we settled on a Grand Design Imagine 21BHE trailer. Windish RV is the only local dealership that sales the Grand Design brand. I did receive a call from a salesperson David only to find out because of the covid 19 situation it was going to take sometime to get one in. I was ok with this fact and even put a deposit down on it. David did update us on final production date and estimated time of arrival to the dealership. Once the trailer was on the lot David did inform me and I went down to look at it. Simple point it was the best trailer for our needs and was the best fit for us.
Up to this point I was satisfied with everything, but during my first visit and finally meeting David face to face is where I began to lose faith in Windish RV and David. During the first visit David, in my opinion, was not interested in selling a trailer to me. It was almost like he was disconnected and didn't show any interest in presenting the product or trying to "sale" me a trailer. He didn't bother to show me any features and would only answer the questions I posed to him. Even then there was no interest or excitement. I returned a few days later with my wife to let her see our new trailer, let David know we were coming and once again saw very little interest in trying to present a product. I did learn later that there were 2 other parties looking to purchase this trailer, so apparently it didn't matter to him or the sales manager if they sold it to us or not. Very disappointing customer service.
Once we set up our appointment to take delivery, do our walk thru and sign documents the only highlight of the even was working with Kenmaura. She was awesome and helpful. She alone was the only reason we purchased thru Windish. The walk thru portion was ok, can't even remember the persons name. He hit most of points on the walk thru, but still felt like it was more of we are going to sale this trailer regardless if you take it or not. No real presentation or making us feel like we were a valued customer. I know we didn't buy the biggest most expensive rig on the lot, but working in customer service most of my life I have learned to at least make the customer feel important. We didn't even see our salesman David at all during or after this 2 hour process.
We took delivery of our trailer on Monday July 6th, it is now Wednesday July 8th and I still have have not even recieved a "Thank you for purchasing a trailer" or "Congratulations" from our salesman David. Well I will tell you this, next time I need a trailer when we upgrade I will not return to this Windish RV location. I will find a different dealership that sales Grand Design products even if i have to drive out of...
