ZERO STARS - BUYERS BEWARE Went to buy my first ever trailer with very little experience so when I decided to buy a brand new 30ā trailer, I was assured at the time of sale that the walk thru that comes with a fee, would provide everything I needed to know how to use the trailer as well as providing contact information for additional training. During the purchase process, kept trying to sell me more coverage and the only way to get a lower rate, even with an 850 credit score, is to buy more coverage. When I go to get the camper and finalize the deal, I come in with a lower rate from another creditor, then all of a sudden, they dropped my rate even lower than what they said was āthe best they could doā and I didnāt even have to buy all the additional coverages. DECEPTIVE Then when I went to do the walk thru the associate brought his 5year old! This child is jumping around, playing with everything in and around my trailer which was beyond distracting. Even though I took video, I learned absolutely nothing! Thereās too much commotion in the video to even try to comprehend all that is needed to safely use the trailer. After that debacle, I was so overwhelmed I decided to have them deliver the trailer to me. After the unsuccessful walk thru, the trailer is delivered at which point, the PDI should have accounted for any issues. Not the case! When I went for my first outing, there were no working blinkers! When calling my RV Complete service to have them come fix the lights, I find out that I have to pay more for that, although I was told it would be covered. Just like the rate couldnāt go any lower either. I got so upset that I called Brandon the manager and he came back to get the trailer and have it fixed although they were not going to get me in for a month. A month on a brand new trailer? Does no one do their due diligence and safety checks?! On top of that, he left the keys so I had to drive over an hour and pay for gas and and tolls AGAIN to go take the keys and more time out of work. In talking with the Rana Svc Mgr, and inquiring about why this was never caught but shows checked off on the PDI report, she said they donāt really use the checklists. Excuse me!? So we have a checklist to go thru and figure out what works, what doesnāt, someone actually signs and initials all this, but they donāt actually use them? So what else doesnāt work that was āchecked offā on the checklist that isnāt really used? At that point, I decided to reach out to Brian Strain, the VP, thinking Iād get some help. Turned out to be another huge disappointment. I told him everything that happened, he apologized and said to give him some time to look into it and he would get back to me within a week. After 3 weeks, I had to call him. He said heās sorry and that rather than at a minimum refunding my money for the āwalk thruā I didnāt really receive or to get reimbursed for all the gas/tolls going back and forth, he wants me to go back up AGAIN to have them re-perform a walk thru and that I need receipts for reimbursement. At this point, Iāve already taught myself what I needed from other campers and good ol Google. Iād prefer to get a new trailer or my money and expenses back which he could easily do if he wanted. Needless to say, lights were fixed, although the wires they āfixedā are hanging down which I ended up fixing myself with a few zip ties. Can we say incompetent? I have since uncovered several issues with the unit that were checked off on the PDI as working and I will not be going to this place for any future purchases or service. I had a very unfortunate experience with my first ever trailer and as a woman, itās even more disheartening to know that my safety or othersā safety on the road is not a priority. That doing the right thing is not important. That following thru isnāt necessary. I guess good business is a thing of the past. Word of mouth spreads fast. Businesses should be more inclined to do the right thing from the start! They wonder why they get bad reviews and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe bought our first camper from here - brand new. The initial commitment was easy. We picked a camper we liked, got to see it, and then put a down payment and signed some papers. It was 5 days until we were able to pick it up due to our schedule. I had asked for a few things to be fixed - seem caulking was peeling in areas, foam insulation was missing or falling off on the underside, door stuck and didn't open/close properly.
None of these were addressed before pickup. I asked them to take care of these before we left the lot, they took our camper back, and 45 minutes later we got it back. The only item they addressed was the caulking. Frustrated, we left, and I'll now be making these repairs/adjustments on my own. They're minor, but it's a brand new camper and these things should be addressed.
Between down payment and pickup I was called by finance and was told my payment had increased by ~$85 a month. Typical sales though - before signing the final papers we were able to get the price back down to our original quote. Finance was not able to provide me a copy of the extended warranty contract for review prior to making the purchase, so we opted for 3rd party. I had called and asked for the hitch height so I could make sure my truck was set up properly, but it honestly took 4-5 calls/texts over 3 days before I could get an answer. By the time I did, I was out of time and had to scramble to get a hitch and wasn't able to shop around for one that I wanted.
The orientation was uninformative. Honestly, it's a tough job, campers are all different and have their own quirks, and the guy showing us was really nice, but he really didn't know what he was talking about and it was a waste of time. Told me water in the tank "doesn't make that big of a difference" and sent me off the lot with 250lbs of water in the tank. Couldn't tell me if the fridge would work or not while towing. Didn't know if I could walk on the roof of this model. Didn't know what the included hand crank was for - told me first it was for the levelers but they were electric. Then told me it was for the tongue jack if the handle broke, which I don't think is correct either. Screen door handle wasn't adjusted properly so it wouldn't disengage from the main door. Told me "you just have to pull down on the door" to separate it from the main door and he forced them apart. Would have been nice to hear "lets have someone look at that for you" instead. Told me to just leave the battery disconnect on all the time, no need to turn it off, which I'm pretty sure is bad advice. Most of the info was "here's an overhead storage" "here's where the sink is". I'd have to double check the papers, but I think you might actually pay for this orientation as well. There were a few good tidbits, like how to use the hookups and the AC.
Battery box wasn't strapped down before we left - would have lost it if we didn't notice. Nobody was around during hookup or drive off. Being my first time, I had an idea of what to do, but some help would have been nice.
It was an ok experience, but spending that kind of money I just hoped for a bit more customer service and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCRIMINALS!! DO NOT PURCHASE FROM COUSINS RV!!! My wife and I purchased a brand new model 42foot fifth wheel from Cousins back in early 2022. We asked for a fifth wheel hitch to be financed along with the RV. They agreed, and do you know what they gave us instead???! They AMATURLY WELDED a ranch hand adapter to our pin box which is not it's intended use!!! This immediately voided our warranty on the pin box, and without any of our knowledge that this was a blatant disregard to our safety and adversely affected our RVs ability to be towed legally and safely. My wife and I were oblivious to the dangers associated with this issue for a few hundred miles because this was the first time we purchased and towed an RV of this size, and Cousins RV took advantage of our ignorance and sent us on our way anyways. Well as you guessed it, the welds came undone a few hundred miles into our trip back home and it completely bent out pin box plate, thankfully I noticed it because we would have lost our $75k purchase in an instant. After removing the ranch hand adapter and getting the kingpin professionally repaired and purchasing an actual fifth wheel hitch which we paid for all out of pocket, we contacted Cousins RV and asked for a refund on the parts and the labor necessary to fix the damage they caused us which they verbally agreed to. We even mailed them the adapter and parts back through a sister company they partner with back in 2022. However after coming to that agreement they have refused to even acknowledge us anymore and so for nearly two years they have given us the run around, they refuse to help us rectify this problem and stopped returning any of our calls all together. At this point my wife and I are over it, I have submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureu and even contacted the local news channel to shine some light on the lack of customer service and their blatant disregard for their customers safety and the general publics safety. Attached below is the proof of their work and I'm grateful that we were paying attention before we lost everything we worked so hard to obtain. SO ONCE AGAIN DO NOT PURCHASE ANY RV FROM COUSINS RV!!! THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU ONCE YOU DRIVE IT...
