Well, There is a nice paved parking lot. There is a Dairy Queen and a dominoes that eventually open late morning. The women’s restroom was not stocked at all. At least two of the four stalls did not have any paper. There was some on the counter in the bathroom however so there’s that. Always a good thing to check for paper first… the big thing though is the shower. It leaves a lot to be desired. First, they charge $15… $25 if you need their towels. Once the towels are returned, they refund the extra $10. The shower is really nothing more than basically taking a shower under a water hose. There’s nothing convenient about the shower at all. There’s nowhere to put your bag to get it off the floor. There’s no where to put your shampoos and soaps inside the shower other than the floor. There’s no shower curtain or lip on the shower to keep the water from running out into the rest of the shower room. I had to set my shower bag on the sink in mid shower because I realize the water was running all the way over towards the door. There was one small strip of floor that did not get wet and this is where I had to hop around trying to get my clothes on without getting everything soaked by touching the wet floor or...
Read moreThis particular gas station is a Henderson County landmark. Everyone knows where the "Mountain Home Truck Stop" is at and everyone knows that you can get whatever you'd possibly need to get here whether that be reasonably priced fuel, a decent tasting hot meal from the DQ or Domino's located right next door on both sides of the truck stop, not to mention the Bojangles and the McDonald's right beside those. With plenty of options for food, fuel, and other travel accessories and needs the Mountain Home Truck stop is the perfect place to stop for those things. The facilities are pretty standard, I would avoid stopping here for a bowel movement or a shower if I were you and find a YMCA instead though. The restrooms, like at any truck stop, are notoriously atrocious. I've never, ever seen the bathrooms here clean enough to where I'd feel comfortable doing either of those things. Other than that, keep your visits to those facilities here to a minimum, avoid stopping to talk to the roughneck locals or lot lizards that frequently hang out outside, and you'll be alright. I like the truck stop, but until they are able to clean up the area around it I give the Mountain Home Truck...
Read moreWhat a dump! The front looks okay, but around back where the big trucks go the air pumps don't work, it looks like hell with huge muddy puddles everywhere and mud even when it hasn't rained. Over on the side where there's a parking lot for cars it looks like several trash trucks exploded along with a couple of donation trucks. There's trash and clothes in the creek and on the side it's literally a health hazard that Creek is Flowing Downstream towards Clear Creek and other streams and eventually into the Broad River and Greenville watershed. The stream is literally choked with garbage old tires all sorts of refuse. This is shameful I know that there is more than enough money to clean up after the mess that the store and their customers have made. But, as far as I can tell no effort has ever been made to clean up beside and behind...
