Waffle House — Restaurant in North Carolina

5/23/25 Amazing how just 1 employee can ruin a restaurant. Arrived at 8, only 1 other customer. Literally every table except 1, & every counter space (except 2 spots that had her clothes & purse) were dirty & 2 needed to be cleared. Instead of cleaning them, the redhead waitress spent her time gossiping to the cook. Loudly enough for us to hear how she hates the other waitress. When she finally decided to come over, it was, "What do ya want?" Instead of bringing all of our items at the same time, she she'd wait a few minutes between, like she was serving a 5- course meal. 12 minutes between the time she brought the first item & the final item. To make the experience complete, she brought a wrong entree.... then blamed us for the mistake, for "talking over her". What? That's a first for me. Only time we talked to her was to give her the order. Isn't it her job to listen? Sad to see an employee ruin a restaurant, as we used to like coming here.

Ive been a Waffle House customer for over 30 yrs. 45 if you count when I was a kid. The food is always good if the staff are on their game. My issue is the customer service end of it and its not the local stores fault. First of all I understand in this new era of food, ordering online is a thing now. I am very specific however as to what I want to order so I have always called it in. Well to my suprise this store doesnt take phone orders? Is this a company wide thing? When I get there and order. Surcharges galor.. extra .50 per egg.. come on. A surcharge for a togo order that I couldnt even call in? "Because people who get take out dont like to tip"? Then as Im checking out, I get asked if I want to tip? What is going on? I usually tip very well as I worked in the food business for years and totally understand how important it is BUT, how much extra of my money do you want. The total for 3 people at a Waffle House should not be over 80 bucks, but it was. Sorry for the long winded review just a bit frustrated...

I did go to this place regularly but will not go back after my experience Saturday morning. I went by myself and when I walked in I was asked if I wanted to sit at the counter. There were nothing but men at the counter and everyone was sitting elbow to elbow. I stated no that I would wait for a table. I waited about 10 minutes and a table came available and one of the staff members (the one I told I would wait for a table) cleaned it off then walked over to me and stated I can't offer you that table. You will have to sit at the counter. I stated again that I didn't want to sit at the counter and was told sorry but you can't have a table. I asked to speak to the manager. I told the manager what I had been told and she said "that's correct, you will have to sit at the counter if you want to be served". I told her that was ridiculous. She said again "you can sit at the counter or leave" and...
