FAMILIES WITH TODDLERS ARE NOT WELCOME.
I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Lifetime, as it has left me deeply concerned and humiliated. As a long-time member, I have always valued the sense of community and safety that this club provided. However, this year has been a stark contrast, and I am seriously considering canceling our membership. It feels like families with children are no longer safe and welcome here. In previous years, we enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere filled with friendly faces and well-mannered young staff. Unfortunately, this year's experience has been marred by a noticeable lack of professionalism among the staff, that was hired from shady and mean school kids (seriously, I’m contacting the Board to check if they are actually allowed to work there). On July 5th, I visited the outdoor pool with my 18-month-old. She wasn't ready to swim, so I sought out the water tables that have always been a favorite for little ones. When I approached a group of staff members who were standing around doing nothing, I kindly asked if they could bring out at least one table for the toddlers nearby, many of whom were upset. Instead of a helpful response, I was met with eye-rolling and dismissive behavior from a staff members especially a girl named Dominique, that said they are not allowed until the break. When the break started, my request was still ignored, and I felt invisible while the staff laughed and chatted among themselves. Eventually, after I came up for the second time, one of them gave the water table but insisted I return it myself after the break. The table was empty, lacking the toys that should have been included, I saw the toys tucked under the counter. When I asked for the toys that come with a water table, I was handed a single rubber duck (left behind by some kid) and some trash, short guy with a grin said: “you can borrow these for now, but fyi the tables were prohibited for safety reasons a day earlier”, yet when I tried to get clarification from a manager, he said water tables are allowed and toddlers are welcome to play with them. The overall atmosphere has become chaotic, with litter and wet towels scattered around, and it seems that the staff are indifferent to maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. It’s disgusting to think that as a paying member, I have to deal with such attitude and a lack of respect from school kiddos that get paid literally from my pocket.
P.S. after I talked to the manager, nasty school kids brought some trash pieces of toys out and put them inside the water tables, one of the tiny plastic peace that they put there, on purpose I think, got into my toddler mouth and she almost choked on it. Hope they enjoyed seeing us leaving after that, by their happy giggles I guess they were proud of themselves.
The pool staff team are mean, cruel, and nasty. I’m considering canceling my family’s membership, and some of my friends are also considering doing the same after...
Read moreLife Time could be the best gym overall but it's customer service is BY FAR the worst I have ever encounter.
I was a member a few years back and loved it very much. Unfortunately the drive was a bit too far and the amenity I was most interested in was not at all open through most part of the pandemic. It just didn't make sense to be a member at the time.
While periodically getting emails saying ''we would love to have an outstanding member back'' we tried to get old pricing back for the sole reason of - the amenity we loved the most, wasn't still completely open for use, only kids camp.. no luck there, if we wanted to sign up again we would have to pay new pricing. Ok - so far, we understand life moves on and it's on us for canceling our membership in the first place, but I thought you wanted us back with all those emails!!!!
Fast forward, upon moving closer to the Florham Park location we were sure of returning and waiting for the 1st of the month to sign up. OH WHAT A HORRIBLE MISTAKE! We are left to pay $400 dollars to be able to use the best feature the gym has to offer - outdoor pool during the nice months. - But you can sign up and just not use the pool!!!!!! - They say.
The last thing that did it for us was that we were told the website had all the information about yesterday April 30th being the very last day to sign up for pool access with no added fees - on their sign up page. What a freaking lie! I had the page open, literally refreshed to sign up today May 1st and not a single piece of information about this deadline. Really, if I had that very important piece of information, I would be here, trying to sign up for the regular pricing like an a**hole?
Why lie?
Why say oh we would love to have you back but oops so sorry no can't do.
Quit emailing people about coming back and don't lie about information.
Also, don't even bother responding to this with "I am sorry you feel this way but we would love to have you consider joining us in the future." -Freaking bs.
You are dealing with actual loyal customers that would've stick around for years but instead chooses to be completely unreasonable. I guess you didn't want someone like me to be a customer in the first place, right? Lucky you, what a bullet you dodged.
To anyone else signing up this summer, please pay the $200 per person to use their outdoor pool so you can have unlimited access to nasty bathrooms covered in hair, wet towels everywhere and extremely overprice disgusting food that will take over 1 hour to be made served by unaware teenagers that care 0 about you guessed, customer service.
Oh, and when you finally had enough, just remember to cancel a full month ahead as after canceling, you are stuck for another full month.
Never in my life I wrote a google review because I am not petty (I guess I am now) but this one was my pleasure.
Yes, I went all out.
Thanks to who made it this far. I feel 10...
Read moreThey keep raising membership fees & you get a lot less. During the summer - it’s at its worse.
-Hot tub outside has been broken for a month the swim suit ringer in the men’s bathroom was broken so the men were using the one in the family room… rather than fix it- they just switched the broken one from men’s to the family one… the broken one in the family one has been broken for a month -They can never keep up with the towels on the weekends & will tell members to go inside to go find one when all the lifeguards are hanging out in their chairs either on their phones or chatting -the jets on the shallow end have not worked in years… it wasn’t until I went to another Lifetime that I saw that was a feature -Bathrooms in the family room are not cleaned regularly during a heavy traffic weekend -they are always running out of food on the weekends! Will even shut down the cafe.. not reliable if you planned to have lunch. And they will run out of something major - like chicken for the whole weekend… my husband works in the industry & when that happens… you literally go out & buy chicken. -if it rains & the pool gets shut down - they drag their feet to open up the pool again when it the storm has clearly passed with blue skys & sunny. They will tell you that the storm is in the surrounding areas & needs to be 10 miles away to be safe for a 1/2 hour… well I also downloaded the app because it really seemed unlikely & when I fact checked them… only THEN they opened the pool
It is simply poorly managed… the amenities are there… but you’re lucky if it’s clean/working for a decent experience
UPDATE:
They have a new food manager & the cafe has done a 180! The food seems to come out in a reasonable amount of time, and you can now order ahead of time.
The pool management still is disappointing. They still can’t figure out how to staff the lifeguards- we’re here on a weekend & they won’t open the slide because not enough lifeguards. If they are increasing the membership & charging new members for pool access- why can’t this be figured out. They even have to pool slide hours as closed everyday so they don’t have to be accountable for it. Another time they actually had a ton of lifeguards but they wouldn’t open the pool slides because no one could figure out how to tie the safety rope & they said they would need to wait for their manager the following day. There was even a birthday party going on & I felt so bad none of the kids could use the slide. Lifetime even charges $250 extra if you book a pool party & elect for the outdoor pool. Thankfully enough people complained that the lifeguards were suddenly able to figure it out.
Do we get a discount on days when we are not able to use the...
