As I approached the placid stretch of sand known as Second Beach, adjacent to the Patrick Space Force Base, the Atlantic breeze carried a tang of salt that mixed with the distant, almost imperceptible hum of powerful engines. The sand, still cool beneath my feet, bore the imprints of morning walkers and the scuttle marks of sandpipers. It was a peaceful canvas, soon to be underscored by the might of aviation prowess.

Having walked barely a tenth of a mile along the shoreline, the tranquil horizon was interrupted by the advancing silhouette of the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules. The Hercules, a titan of the skies, made its approach, its four Rolls-Royce AE 2100D3 turboprop engines altering the cadence of the ocean’s whispers. There’s a unique blend of awe and humility one feels in the presence of such human engineering, a craft capable of touching the farthest reaches of the globe, delivering hope or strategic might with...

Several big problems: No bathrooms, No lifeguard and I saw several sharks MULTIPLE times very close to shore and this was in the early afternoon. We came 8/6/19 the exact same day that there was 3 shark bites just north of here within a 24 hour period.

Other negatives lots of seaweed in the water it felt like my legs were constantly caught in a net. Aggressive surfers that act like they own the beach. Also several guys shore fishing which can stir up a lot of commotion in the water that eventually attracts sharks. If you want better secluded beaches the ones in cocoa immediately south of Shepard park are great and more friendly.

Leaving same review for tables beach also at Patrick Air Force bc we were there also and had...

Great beach, plenty of room. You do want to be aware while in the water, this is a big spot for surfers to come. While they are very polite and fun to watch you will have to watch out for surfers coming in on a wave and loose boards. Be polite and move out of the way as they come in and be responsible to watch for the lose boards coming in. There is a large dumpster right by the shower so you will have a place to leave your trash. Even though this beach is right on A1A it is still easy to get back on the road as there is a traffic light at...

One of almost a half dozen public beaches on Patrick Space Force Base, this one was once (as the name implies) at the 2nd traffic light. Now, if you are traveling S from Cocoa Beach, it is the 3rd light (if you are coming N from the Pineda Causeway, it is the 1st light, so neither way works for the name). There are no facilities, but plenty of parking, and you often have the place to yourself. UPDATE: With the movement of the PSFB East Gate up the road to the N, there is no traffic light here at all. Still, the name remains.
